Sakana — Restaurant in Lisbon

Really poor service at this restaurant. We were visiting from the U.K. and were excited about visiting this restaurant as the reviews are great and we love sushi. However, upon first arriving they told us we didn’t have a reservation. After showing them the email confirmation and relaying a telephone conversation we’d had previously, they then told us we hadn’t confirmed the booking. Once again, we had proof via our email confirmation that we had. They made us wait outside for 20 minutes, whilst they continued with their service (the restaurant was pretty empty). The waiter then came back out and was incredibly rude and obnoxious, he hesitantly showed us to our RESERVED table, like we were doing something wrong by being there. He then told us “not to p**s him off, or else”. It was at this point we made the decision to leave as we did not feel safe in the restaurant. Only opens at 20:00 so if you are there on a trip good luck the place says nothing just a K sign you are on the good spot the food was not made fresh and clearly been done many hours ago the sashimi was not cut all the way so many slices were stuck together and the place is on a very very good looking spot but it is only the side of the water the other side is not very welcoming to say the least with all of the graffiti and it is abandoned buildings so for me no thank you but maybe I’m being to harsh they don’t have any faults on that but it is life so being honest is kind of what I do since I am not a instagram model or a influencer I’m just a fat guy that likes to eat good and spend time...

We were initially taken aback by the limited menu but drawn in by the beautiful space and great music so decided to stay. What a great surprise. We got the shared sushi for 3 people (this was suggested by our waiter and a bit of an upsale) and could not finish it. A beautifully presented array of rolls, sashimi and nigiri. We asked to have no Philadelphia in our rolls and this was accommodated. Fish was fresh, amply provided and delicious- a mix of sea bass, salmon, tuna and shrimp. The appetizer sampler was unfortunately a disappointment. No Japonés beer or sake - which we would have loved. Just things to note… Overall better...
