Went for lunch at Saldanha Mar Hilton restaurant in Lisbon and it was the most dreadful experience of my life so far when it comes to food and service. The space looked lovely from the outside but when entering the space there was a foul smell of sewage coming from inside. Being a Hilton restaurant I could be wrong but nope the scent was everywhere and that might even explain the poor service - poor employees having to work with that smell - sewage- all day and with a smile. The food - a seafood dish- Arroz de Marisco - nearly made me sick , not fresh fish at all and not sure if the seasoning or something else it tasted of something off or rotten - an old shoe or cupboard. Maybe the sewage smells does not help with the the taste. Anyway the reviews and critics made to the chef and servants were taken in a certain personal manner and they became very defensive/passive/aggressive when showing us the way out and not offering other options and could only come up with non logical explanations for how bad the service/food/atmosphere was. I wish I had chosen a sandwich at a coffee shop then paying £60 to eat posh food with such poor quality. Do not recommend and if you ask me - avoid it...
Read moreFernandho, Inéz and the rest of the staff at the restaurant were fantastic. My wife and I ate here for breakfast both mornings that we stayed at the Doubletree. The quality of the food and the service were exceptional, for the reasons explained below.
We noticed that they were exceptionally attentive to the needs of all of the guests, regardless of the language spoken.
The buffet itself featured a nice variety of different fresh foods, enabling a variety of different diets to be accommodated.
What impressed us most about this restaurant was the genuineness and high degree of professionalism of the staff. We have stayed at similar Doubletree hotels in the United States. The level of kindness and service in this restaurant exceeded the best restaurants that we have experienced in the United States at similar hotels.
It is always nice when the hotel staff remembers you because they see so many people on a daily basis. It is exceptional when they remember what you ordered the day before and ask you if you would like the same thing again the next day or if you would like something...
Read moreQuality going downhill, a sad story. A dinner for two here ended up as a sore disappointment. The staff was trying, but failed from step to step. Even though the restaurant was mostly empty and a team of 5 visible, everything was quite slow, and when the dished finally arrived, none of it was convincing in any way. From the starters (Braised Salmon; Grilled Vegetable Market Salad were bland and uninspired) to the mains. The duck came rare with just too much blood on the plate, and when asked to get it well done a second serving was brought that was even worse; other requests forgotten in the meantime. The octopus was slightly better, but the potato sides half bitter, and all of it bland like the rest of the dishes. Was here before and don´t remember it as excellent, but still kind of ok, but now barely acceptable - especially for a restaurant in a Hilton Hotel...
