While Tacho do Pescador is firmly in a tourist area, the patrons run the gamut of tourists and locals alike as the diners around us spoke Portuguese. This restaurant is quite family-friendly. If you see a line up out front, they will take down your name and you can sit across from the entrance and wait your name to be called. The maitre d will call your name so don't hesitate to line up. The staff knows basic English, but don't expect in-depth conversations. Just as well, because this place caters to locals and tourists alike, and that's what I wanted. We ordered the curried prawns and the grilled bacalao. The curry is pleasant and very interesting, it is more on a sweeter side and maybe even a little fruity? It is not spicy at all and complimented the prawns really well. It came with rice on the side which mopped up the sauce really well. The bacalao was a thick fillet of salted cod and had great grill flavor. A glass of wine and two entrees 45 euros. That's a great value considering this is in the middle of a tourist area. You will have a lot of choice up and down the strip of restaurants here, and we decided on this place because it had a lineup. It was a really good choice. A place with a lineup can rarely go wrong.

My wife and I dropped by for a dinner a Sunday evening The place had quite some guests, but was not overly crowded. The tables are placed very close. The menu contains a nice selection of food and beverages. And that is very nice. The service is ok, but the serving personnel are not very engaged in serving. It would be nice if they actually showed that it is ok to be a customer in the restaurant and not a nuisance. Regarding the food, it was quite disappointing that the sardine pate was served in a small container instead of serving something homemade in the restaurant. And the butter was also in a small plastic container instead of being fresh. The bean stew (With and without fish) was ok, but lacked flavour - to include salt… as if the courses/dishes had been made this way for many years and people in the restaurant had forgotten to taste the food before being served - “lack of love” in the food. So overall a bit of a disappointment to dine here. And with all the choices around I would go somewhere else next time.

Pretty decent/good food. Very busy which is why my buddy and I went…. We have been looking for Portuguese good food since we got to Lisbon and this is a place that I would more likely recommend than not which means something to me. However, service was trash, the server seemed to be in an irritated mood upon arrival. The hostess seated before us when we were clearly in line and spoke with him. But seated shortly after… who knows, maybe it was an accident but we were seated within minutes of the people before us. Decent portions, good flavor for what I ordered. I tried my buddies steak and it was something I would recommend against. Maybe it was just slammed and everyone was flustered….

Wow! We've found this place kind of accidentally, just wanted to eat some traditional cod. Then I discovered there's Feijoada which I've always wanted to try, served in few versions. I picked the one with cuttlefish and shrimps and OMG! It was in the metal pot with the lid, so it stayed hot the whole time. The rice was cooked really good and with the feijoada it tasted AMAZING! Sangria is also really good there, especially the one with champaign ;) And very friendly, patient staff - there was so many great meals in the menu, we couldn't decide on what to try)! :)

Delicious and well-cooked octopus, a large portion. I advise you to try the wine, the photo of which is attached to the review, a pleasant aroma, a delicate aftertaste and a very tasty wine. P.S. To guide the waiter, before taking an order from guests, you need to wipe the table from street dust. The order was brought to us, and the whole table, appliances, plates were dirty (dust collected all day), it's good that the finished dish was in a separate plate
