I live nearby and stopped by this restaurant after dropping my dogs off to get groomed across the street. I was interested in getting coffee and ordering food while I waited for my dogs to finish their grooming session.
I was the only person in the restaurant, and there were two staff members working. When I asked to use the restroom, the first person I spoke with was unwelcoming.
no smile, just a curt response.
The second person (appeared to be the chef, possibly the owner) questioned me multiple times about whether I was ordering lunch specifically. When I said I’d probably get an espresso and hang out, maybe order food, he made it clear that wasn’t enough.
bathrooms are only for “customers,” apparently meaning LUNCH customers.
I understand protecting restroom access, but I “was” planning to be a customer. The repeated interrogation about my specific order and the overall unwelcoming attitude from both staff members made me feel like my business wasn’t wanted unless I was spending a certain amount. So I left.

Read moreMy friend and I stumbled upon Tasquinha Catita while exploring Lisbon. We only planned to stop in for a couple of beers, but the incredible smell of the food quickly changed our minds. We ended up staying for hours, trying a range of dishes and a few cocktails, and it turned out to be the best culinary experience I’ve ever had.
The two gents running the restaurant were fantastic hosts. The chef, in particular, took the time to talk us through each dish, explain the ingredients, and give us recommendations. You could really taste how fresh and local the food was, with the menu reflecting what was available that day.
It was the first time I’ve ever had a meal that actually made me slow down and truly appreciate every bite. The flavours, presentation, and care that went into each dish were something special.
The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and genuine. It felt like dining in someone’s home. Their passion for food and hospitality made our evening and honestly our whole trip.
If you’re in Lisbon, Tasquinha Catita is a must-visit. A true hidden gem that deserves every...
Read moreWhat a delightful resturant. Perfect size for a relaxed meal. Food is cooked to perfection. Appetizer shrimp croquet and beef croquet with a honey mustard. Main courses were a deboned chicken with endive and mushrooms, and tomatoe arugula balsamic salad. The other main dish was broiled duck with potatoes. Each item on the plate has a delicious taste. Nothing hidden by a sauce. The chef is an artist in painting flavor for the palate. A must when...
