Mixed........we went for dinner Oct 20. The waitress escorted us to our table and then placed cutlery/napkin on the table. Then they were picked up by another member of staff who then sanitised the table before putting the cutlery down. Error 1. We ordered our food which included the cover. My wife had a pizza whilst I had monkfish/prawns with risotto rice. We were still eating the cover ( bread & homemade tuna pate) when the waitress wanted to takeaway our plates error 2. The dinner arrived and looked good. I tasted the rice and was surprised that it had a vinager taste to it. I spoke to the waitress and she took my plate away. She subsequently came back with my plate and the menu and pointed out that rice was with lime....the menu was in Portuguese and an English translation underneath. I looked at the English version and there was no mention of lime whilst I then looked at the Portuguese version stated "a la lima". Error 3. The fish was good, rice an acquired taste. There was nothing wrong with it, but I would not have ordered it if I had known.
A couple then sat down on the next table and the procedure to wipe down the table etc was not adhered to until the main waiter came and sorted it out, like he did with us. Error 4.
We have been to this restaurant quite a few times, enjoyed the food, especially the sushi, but this time unfortunately they let...
Read moreSaturday night late dinner at 10pm for two. We had no reservation but the host was very helpful and got us a table when it looked like they were turning down larger groups. During this Covid time the restaurant had a comfortable social distancing between tables and customers. The environment was excellent with live music and great decor. We order the brushetta which was more like a cheese garlic toast with no tomatoes, the primavera pizza and the Penne Polleto. Food was good in general and the prices were acceptable, however we waited for an hour to finnaly get our food which seemed extremely long time for a restaurant that could only accept up to 2/3 of its total occupancy. During the wait, no one came to check on us to see if we needed anything or apologize / explain the delay. The Penne was way too salty. Some of the waiters didn't speak English and the one that did forgot to mention that in addition to the deserts menu they also have a separate area that seems to be a coffee shop with additonal deserts that are available but missing on the menu. We had the brownie and a Coffe for desert and it was okay.
Due to the long wait the hostess offered the desert which we were thankful for and did apreciate the gesture. The restaurant decor was the best part as well as the live singer, but needs to work on their service and training of...
Read moreWe were recommended restaurant by Jeorge at the Tivoli for great Tapas, we arrived and asked to sit outside which looks kind of basic compared with other outside dining-establishments , we were given the menu by Jose, slightly disappointed as Tapas was not on menu, but Jose was so lovely he said no problem we can do Tapas what would you like ? We said it wasn’t a problem we would order off the menu, Jose insisted, said he could do tapas just choose a few things you like and we can do it, eventually we said why don’t you surprise us, He didn’t disappoint us, we started with tuna , prawns, cured meat and meat croquets, the Tuna melted in your mouth and to finish off he brought rice and beef which also melted in your mouth, excellent choices he made, excellent service. The best of all is when we finished Jose took us inside to look around and then that’s when you realise what a beautiful restaurant it is beautifully decorated and a lovely ambience, almost wished we’d sat inside, full of diners as it goes deep within, he showed us photographs on one of the walls of the owner and of the house he grew up in , a very humble beginning. Definitely recommend this restaurant inside or outside the food is exceptional, brilliant service from Jose and the staff .We definitely will return before we go home. Well done to all...
