There are two kinds of restaurants: Those that make you feel welcome and cared for — and those that simply don’t care whether you came to enjoy your evening or not. Sadly, FLOW falls into the second category.
We came this evening with high hopes. Our previous experience here had been excellent, and we were looking forward to another lovely evening in this beautiful location. Unfortunately, what unfolded was a major disappointment.
We arrived early, at 19:00, full of anticipation. The restaurant was just opened so there was no rush. But from that point on, things went downhill. It took more than an hour to receive our first course, and over two hours for the main courses to arrive — cold.
The delay was so extreme that my daughter-in-law and young grandson, who were with us, had no choice but to leave the table before the main course even arrived. They simply couldn't wait any longer. But no worries — they still charged us for their meals, even though neither of them had the chance to eat a single bite.
When we politely raised our concerns with the duty manager, his astonishing response was along the lines of: “If you want to be independent — don’t disturb me.” That was his version of an apology. Truly unbelievable.
The food that finally did reach the table was so cold it had to be sent back to the kitchen to be reheated. To make things worse, my wife received the wrong dish — not what she had ordered — and had to wait yet again for the correct one to be prepared.
Throughout all of this, the staff, including both the waiter and the manager, offered the same flat and mechanical response: “We’re sorry.” But there was no real care, no effort to remedy the situation, no sense of true hospitality.
At FLOW, it seems, the customer comes second — or not at all.
Despite the beautiful setting and our past positive experience, tonight made it very clear: this is a place to skip. It is no longer the high-quality restaurant it once was — and that’s...
Read moreMy wife, daughter and I recently dined at Flow Restaurant in Porto to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in from a rainy evening, the atmosphere was inviting, and the setting we hoped for on such a special occasion.
The food was simply outstanding. My wife, a carping critic on all food, ordered the ceviche—and to my surprise, she loved it. She also had the octopus and raved about it. I started with the soft shell crab, which was perfectly crisp with a tinge of Asian influence. My daughter went for mini hamburgers—a bit boring compared to the rest of the menu, but she enjoyed them nonetheless. For her main, she chose the sea bass, which was well-prepared, and beautifully plated. I took Carlos from Argentina’s recommendation and went for the Black Angus steak—and I’m glad I did. It was a fantastic choice. Thank you Carlos!
Beyond the food, the incredible team at Flow truly made the night unforgettable. Well done, whoever hires staff. Lara was an exceptional server—her warmth, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality were evident. I wouldn’t be surprised if she owned her own restaurant one day. She is an exceptional person.
At the front desk, Rodrigo was incredibly accommodating and somehow made me feel completely at ease about having to wait for our table—a rare skill in the hospitality world. Kaio from Mozambique was another standout. He was so kind and attentive throughout the evening, and I truly appreciated his genuine care for us.
Flow Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. Whether you're celebrating a milestone or simply looking for a pleasant dining experience in Porto, this is a place I highly recommend. To Lara, Rodrigo, Carlos, and Kaio, I wish you all the best in your pursuits. You made our evening special, and we left with full hearts, full stomachs, and happy...
