We stayed at the hotel and ate at the restaurant. The hotel is centrally located and is about a 15 minute walk to the river. Very close to a large variety of shopping and restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our room did have windows that open. Our room had complimentary port wine upon arrival and also had a coffee maker, hair dryer and a small refrigerator. Breakfast is provided and delivered to your room daily. Breakfast consisted of a plate of meat and cheese with rolls, butter and jam, fruit, yogurt, milk, coffee, and juice. The staff is very nice as well. We really enjoyed our stay here. This may not be an appropriate place for everyone. While the place is charming and packed with character, it is a very old house so there is no elevator. This doesn't bother us, but if you have problems with climbing stairs it's something to keep in mind. The stairs do get steeper and a bit uneven at the top floor. There is no central air conditioning but the fan in our room and open windows made sleeping comfortable. There was minimal street noise at night which was surprising as we went in peak season. Wifi is provided, however it was a bit spotty. The restaurant was the best meal we had in Porto. Our food was very fresh and was well seasoned and presented beautifully. I suggest reserving a table or eating early as the restaurant is small and stays full with indoor and outdoor seating. Both experiences added to the experience and charm of Porto. I would definitely stay again. Thank you Laurear for making our visit to Porto so lovely.

We were here when in Porto in 2018 and have talked about coming back ever since and finally did. It didn't disappoint. We booked a table for two by email for 6pm Saturday (they only take bookings for opening time, it's first come first served for later times). We were served by Patricia (hope I spelled correctly) who seems to be waitress / owner / manager all rolled into one. To start we ordered the bread with olive oils followed by sliced steak (cooked medium) with roast potatoes, sauce and salad, cod fishcakes, garlic prawns. All of this was cooked perfectly and tasted truly amazing. Both of us had planned to order chocolate mousse for dessert but Patricia said that the special of the day (think it was a kind of bread pudding with cinnamon) was nice so we had one of each and were glad that we did! All of this great food was washed down with a cold Super Bock, lovely bottle of Douro red, a 2 litre bottle of water and a glass of port. Our table was close to the kitchen so we got to see (looked great) and smell (smelled even better) everyone else's food as it came out and I wanted to try everything. Service was great (thanks Patricia) and the food was the best we have eaten (see photos, it's even better than it looks), not just in Porto but anywhere. We have already booked again for Monday.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! We spent 2 nights in Porto, and loved this restaurant so much that we came back the second night for dinner again! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. The owner was wonderful, kind, and warm. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and cozy. We didn’t have a reservation either time but went on the earlier side and luckily were able to be seated right away! Now for the food - we were blown away by every dish we had the first night, that we had to come back the second night to try a few other dishes that caught our eye. First night - we had the Salada Mediterrânea (super fresh!), Costeletão de Vitela (which was so flavorful and perfectly cooked), Posta de Bacalhau Laureado (cod and the prosciutto were great, and I was obsessed with the batata frita laminada). White wine sangria was delicious. Second night - we had Bife Laminado C/ Moho Laureado (again, perfectly cooked and very tasty), Camarão Ao Alho (best garlic shrimp we’ve ever eaten!), and the Pimentos Padrão. Prices were very reasonable, and portions were huge! Only bad thing about that is we were too full to try any of the desserts… :) Overall - if you’re in Porto, this is a must-visit! I only wish I lived closer so that I can come back :)

This is a review for restaurant. In short: The waiter is very rude, and if you don’t want to insult yourself, avoid by all means.

I am a single traveler and come around 8:30p, asking if it’s still possible for a table today as it seems full and some are waiting outside. The waiter is very inpatient and say “you have to wait outside” as if I don’t understand to wait in line. I do t want to take it personal and then just wait in line. After around 20 mins I’m finally at the first place of the line and there’s a table available. Then, two people dropped by and get in asking for a table. The waiter first ask them to wait in line, but soon clean up the table and seat them first in front of me, and just drop me a sentence “just wait for one minute”. Another ten minutes have gone and I’m still standing outside for a seat. I finally just walk away - there are other good restaurant in this area and I don’t need to be here for being insulted by them.

They don’t really respect a single traveler or people following their guidance. Honestly, I even feel discriminated - maybe they don’t want to serve me because I’m from Asia and has poorer English than native speakers? The fact that they disrespect me as customer deserves zero star and I also urge people to walk away from this place no matter how their food is. Their arrogant attitude is just not...
