So... where should I start? This hotel experience was one of the worst of my life. ||||* Check-in process||The check-in experience and the information that was given to us (or not given to us) prior to the check-in was not good at all. A real mess to say the least. No staff to ask for help except the cleaning ladies. ||||* Lack of elevator||There is no elevator and even though we were healthy and young hotel guests, it was a real struggle to carry our luggage up to floor 3 where our room was located. Could be a real problem if your'e older or don't have the strength. ||||* The room||The room itself was not super bad, although no AC and very warm. The bathroom though... as soon as we opened the door, a really bad smell hit us in the face. It was so intense we had to close the door immediately. It smelled like heavy mold and we could not open the door for the rest of our stay. We could not take a shower and we had to hold our breath when we used the toilet.||||We went down to the "reception" and told the man about the smell. He promised to have a look at it and we then went out for dinner. When we got back to the hotel we went into the bathroom again and found out the man we spoke to had sprayed some sort of fragrance in there, to cover the smell of mold. That obviously didn't work at all and only made it worse. ||||We contacted Hotels.com, who we did our booking through. They contacted the hotel (probably the fragrance man), who told Hotels.com that there was no smell at all in our room. Therefore, Hotels.com couldn't help us find a new hotel or refund the money we paid for the hotel. ||||I recommend NO ONE to come here. It was very unpleasant, but also dangerous to expose yourself to the amount of mold in the room (and probably the whole building which is in really bad condition). Me and my travelling partners have been around the world, stayed at multiple hostels and similar, and nothing can compare that to this type of smell. ||||I hope you close down the hotel and get the mold removed, for everyone's sake. I also hope Hotels.com take the responsibility they should have taken in the first place, and remove this hotel from their site....
Read moreVery bad. We had a very disappointing experience in this hotel. First of all there is a tax payment to sleep on the city of Porto of 10% but this tax is no where mentioned in the booking (personally I find it more correct to specify that there is this tax also to pay and that it is EXCLUDED from the price of the hotel). Secondly the WiFi is not working at all. When we told the guy at the reception his answer was:"yes I know" and then looked again at jai stuff without doing or saying something. In general in this hotel they don't know what is customer service. When we arrived nobody even cared. Nobody said welcome or hello, we had the impression they were almost bothered that we were there. Each time we come back and pass the reception we say hello to them but no answer. Very rude stuff. Last, in the building there is no elevator (also not specified in the booking) and our room was on the 4th floor so if you come with a heavy luggage it's definitely not recommended. Finnaly, room and bathroom were clean...
Read moreWe booked for 3 nights to spend New Year's Eve in Porto. Checked-in on December 31st and when we got into our room we realized that the heating was not working. The room was freezing cold and cold air was leaking through the old windows that didn't close properly. The room had two heating systems: hot-water radiators and air conditioning blowing hot air, but none of them worked! Hot water for shower was not working either. The hotel staff omitted this very important information when we checked-in, as if we were not going to realize, but when we complained they acknowledged it and told us that both systems were broken. However, they didn't offer any solution to us until we complained more effusively again on the next day. Then, they moved us to a nearby hotel for the remaining 2 nights. Really disappointed about how this situation was handled. Extremely...
