This review was supposed to be written last year, when my sweetheart and I stumbled into Lupin for lunch one day during our vacation. One day quickly became at least three days, maybe more. I am ashamed to admit that I have forgotten the names of our hosts and friends behind the counter (not to mention the various friends we made in front of the counter seated beside us), but their kindness and warmth and home-cooked food and drink were and are unforgettable. Eating vegan renditions of classic Portuguese dishes with Soundgarden playing on the boombox, talking about the world and Portugal and the US and each of our places in same, this was one of the most memorable highlights of our entire month in the entire country. Also, they make the best beans soup I ever had and it's very...

I used to think that's impossible, but then we came here (twice!), had a lovely chat with Andreia - the owner and incredibly kind main star of the establishment - and enjoyed a wide variety of local vegan dishes without breaking the bank.
If you can ignore the somewhat run-down old mall where the Lupin Snack Bar is located, you'll be rewarded with the best price-to-quality ratio I've personally ever seen in any restaurant (both vegan and non-vegan) as well as extraordinarily friendly staff that truly cares about serving you authentic...
