Dear VietView, I am one of the group of seven (7) disappointed customers from Saturday evening.
Thank you for your comments provided to my friends, but I would like to clarify the situation from my side.
I was the first person to arrive for the reservation which was made for seven (7) people at 8 pm. I've entered the restaurant at 8.10 pm - the sitting place on the terrace has not been arranged: tables were not assembled to host seven (7) people, so I was casually waiting not being seated around 15 minutes for the waiter (i) to took the order from only one occupied table on the terrace (4 ladies); (ii) to bring the order to the abovementioned guests; (iii) to drink a shot of alcohol with guests. Only when he finished - he assembles tables and I was able to seat on the spot, which was supposed to be arranged before the arrival of the guests (as it was booked in advance).
As soon as the tables were arranged - additional 4 guests for our table arrived (5 in total). We made an order and in all fairness, the drinks and starters arrived reasonably fast.
We were waiting for the main course approx. 1-1.5 hours before its arrival. Within the waiting time, we did not receive any communication from the waiter (who was constantly passing our table) on the delay/expected time of meal delivery or anything like that. When we asked he informed us that "the kitchen is busy, it's Saturday night".
Almost the same time as we finally received our meals, an additional two (2) people of our group arrived - so, we were seven (7), as it was booked initially. If you don't believe it - please check the records from security cameras or whatsoever.
New guests asked for the menu. The waiter brought a menu and promised to come back in five (5) minutes to take the order. After 10-15 minutes of waiting the waiter - no one comes for this. Thus, the starving people were basivally forced to leave as they were ignored by the VietView's staff.
After such a horrible treatment we were expecting at least apologize, fast bill payment or discount - nothing. We all went to the cash desk to pay on our initiative, as waiting for additional 15-30-60 minutes to pay the bill is ridiculous.
To sum up: food/drinks experience - all were fresh and delicious, no complaints from my side. place - cosy and well decorated. customer experience/treatment - there is a huge space for improvement as the way of communication/level of service is very poor.
Advice for future customers: come to VietView for trying nice food but be prepared to wait for ages. That's why 1/5.
@owner - please feel free to discuss the situation directly, should you have another...
Read moreI really like this restaurant and was so pleasantly surprised that a good Vietnamese restaurant is in Porto.
The place is gorgeously decorated. It has Apple, outdoor seating and intimate indoor seating. It has a fill the Villa versus your typical restaurant.
The food is amazing. The shrimp summer roll with avocado was absolutely delicious. The peanut sauce was some of the best peanut sauce I've ever tried- I typically don't like peanut sauce. The fish sauce was also exceptionally well done.
We had the mango salad with shrimp and we both thought it was amazing. The mangoes were fresh and ripe. The shrimp was done just perfectly.
My only disappointment was in the pho. Pho, unfortunately the noodles were either overcooked or frozen then defrosted incorrectly. The broth didn't seem all homemade to me. It struck me as partly supported by bouillon cubes or the like, versus 24 plus hours on a beef bone.
The soup didn't come with your requisite bean sprout and and other vegetables. Perhaps that's a function of the supply chain into Porto, which is understandable.
All the service is excellent and some of the best service I've experience at a Vietnamese restaurant. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and fast.
The outdoor seating in the back was intimate, maybe romantic. I sat under a tree that look like a lime tree.
Overall, I would definitely come back here again. This is the second best Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to, outside of Vietnam. And I've been to over 40 countries and probably had Vietnamese food in...
Read moreThis wonderful Vietnamese restaurant opened its doors April 2019. I was in Vietnam October and arrived here craving an alternative to the Portuguese diet. She does an excellent job. I had the Obama bun cha, so named because of a bun cha restaurant in Hanoi where Anthony Bourdain took Barack Obama (At that location, the table they dined is now encased in a glass box.) Her version is rich and complex, better than the one in Hanoi. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. My waiter was a Brit ex-pat, and he was a blast to chat. He gave me some great advice about finding an apartment, because I might move here if Trump is re-elected. Politics aside, the restaurant is well appointed with memorabilia from Vietnam. One wall depicts street life in Ho Chi Minh City. I had an imported Vietnamese green tea. Vietnamese coffee was on the menu, and I am sure she could make a mean ca phe trung, the Vietnamese egg coffee. I will return here before I...
