I would give it less than one, if I had the opportunity. Would not recommend. Menu is limited for families. Sat down, originally looking for place to have cold drink. Husband asked one of the waitstaff, nice guy, if it was ok to sit and have a drink and appetizers. Guy said ok. Later, when we decided we just wanted a drink, bread and olives, the original waiter disappeared and another waiter showed up. He insulted us, said "he knew we were not staying" and decided to let us know that "the seats we sat in were for a restaurant, and not a bar" (which of course we WOULDN'T know, since we don't live there. Unbeknowst to us, the restaurant was ACROSS the street, and the table we sat at was near another restaurant). He then berated us for "not having a meal, and just drinks", and said that "we were rude". Every time he came to our table, he was looking for a way to be rude and disrespectful. For being such a young guy, about late 20's.... he was INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL. He said "he wasn't unprofessional, and didn't care about our reviews". Last I knew, we gave him business. Hope the place closes. It doesn't matter how good some people think the food is, if you're a jerk, you shouldn't be in the restaurant/customer service business. Good luck. Go somewhere else where you will get great service and food, like Thailander just...
Read moreI recently had a delightful dinner at Restaurante A Taska in Porto—and it felt like stepping into a cozy Portuguese home. The dining room has rustic charm, with traditional tiles and wooden beams, creating a warm, informal atmosphere perfect for relaxed evenings.
I began with a savory chorizo and cheese appetizer served with crusty bread, then moved on to a classic bacalhau à brás. The flavors were honest and comforting—flakey cod mixed with perfectly seasoned potatoes and fresh parsley. For dessert, I savoured a traditional rice pudding that was creamy, gently sweet, and beautifully smooth.
Portions were generous, prices very reasonable, and everything tasted strictly homemade. The atmosphere is down-to-earth and welcoming, where locals chat freely and laughter fills the air. The service was genuinely friendly—staff offered helpful explanations about the dishes and wine without being overbearing.
If you’re exploring Porto and want a true taste of Portuguese home cooking, A Taska is a wonderful choice. It’s unassuming, authentic, and full of flavor—definitely somewhere I’ll be...

We had a wonderful dinner here last night during our vacation in Porto. I was visiting with my parents, and everything about the evening was just perfect.
The food was absolutely excellent. We had the braised pork cheeks, which were incredibly tender and full of flavor. They were cooked in red wine and simply melted in our mouths—truly one of the best dishes we’ve had in a long time.
The service was equally outstanding: very friendly and welcoming, with a detailed explanation of the menu that made us feel right at home. For dessert, we tried the traditional Portuguese rabanadas, which were just as delicious as the main course—sweet, comforting, and perfectly prepared.
To top it all off, we were offered a small digestive on the house, a lovely gesture that rounded out the evening beautifully.
All in all, a fantastic and memorable experience. Highly...
