Burger & Co — Restaurant in Sintra

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction and distress over an incident that occurred at your establishment. I visited your restaurant and was subjected to unprofessional and unacceptable behavior by your staff over my use of the restroom.

After using the restroom, I was approached by a staff member who informed me that I was required to pay a fee simply for using the bathroom. I was taken aback by this demand, as there was no clear signage indicating such a policy. When I explained that I had not seen any sign, the staff member insisted that I should have been aware and continued to press me for payment in an aggressive manner. I understand that establishments may have policies in place regarding restroom use, but it is crucial that such policies are clearly communicated to avoid misunderstandings. Furthermore, your staff should be trained to address such matters in a courteous and respectful manner, rather than resorting to harassment.

This is my first review but I felt it was necessary.

Pros: staff are kind location is great (across from Sintra train station) drinks were good - I had an espresso martini, my gf had a sangria. Neither of us could complain for drinks.

Cons: fries were mediocre, nothing special. No seasoning or salt, very bland. Tried to save it with sauce, that didn’t help. burger had no flavour except for grease ( great if that’s all you like) My food came wet that’s how greasy the burger was. I’m like a Hoover with 99.9% of the food I eat. However, this rare occasion, I could only eat about half of my food because of how poorly it tasted. The bun was wet, the burger, bacon, and pulled pork on the burger were soaked. Nothing appetizing about that.

Also, my girlfriend enjoyed her hot dog, the only thing of note for her was that the hotdog was light and too easy to bite into.

I’m giving it a 2 overall because the service saved it. Nothing over the top, just gave us the space we needed. Pretty casual.

Waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive as there was a problem in the kitchen. Things happen, so it was understandable. When the food finally came the burger was wrong so they had to take it back and make it again. Another 15 minutes. No apologies, no “sorry for the wait here’s a water while you wait in the blazing sun”…

I never leave bad reviews, even if the service is really poor, but when we finally went to pay at the end and I asked for a bigger discount for an hour wait, the server gaslit me saying we only waited 30 minutes rather than an hour. When I told him it wasn’t 30 minutes and that we had timed it, he said “so did I”.

Honestly this person needs to be retrained on customer service and learn how to keep their attitude in check. No smiles from staff and very unfriendly, even when you make an absolute mess of the service you should at least be humble and admit when you’re wrong. Kindness is free and good hospitality...
