Well, what should I say about this place!?

I live abroad in Canada for several years, and finally came to Portugal to visit and upon visiting Lisbon everything seems so different in terms of gastronomy. Every single place is overpriced and faking to be Portuguese food, same happened in Sintra a bunch of these restaurants around pretend to really cook Portuguese food and unfortunately they don’t, and they usually take advantage of tourists to overprice their food with below average quality.

Well, this restaurant right here Casa dos Frangos is really cozy and Portuguese, with typical old style Portuguese Avo with a lot of sympathy towards her clients. The food was simply the best food in Portugal so far.

I had a pleasant dining experience at Casa dos Frangos. The service was exceptional; our server was polite and attentive, helping us choose our dishes and informing us about the day's special.

We decided to try the special, which was octopus and chips. It was delicious and definitely worth ordering! However, the grilled chicken was a bit of a letdown—dry and rather plain for my taste. The chips were overcooked and hard, but I appreciated that the waiter noticed this and promptly replaced them without me having to ask.

The atmosphere is charming, with an old-fashioned vibe and quirky decor. Prices were reasonable for the quality offered.

Visited here almost by an accident, there was a lady who spoke English and told us they serve traditional Portuguese food. Affordable and tasty food with great service. For starters we had soup of the day shrimp soup (almost too shrimpy for us), and tomato/mozzarella salad. For main course we had grilled chicken (piripiri). They make their own desserts, and when we dined there they had pudding cake and some sort of sponge cake dessert, which were great! Fresh cherries were juicy and delicious. Atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and cozy. Be prepared to bring cash with you, there is no payment with cards.
