Nobu has to be the most impressive restaurants in Doha in terms of location, ambiance, fresh food and views, surrounded by water in Four Seasons Hotel Doha.
We tried their Kaiseki Menu, which let you choose one of their starters, rolls, main course and dessert. But you must order their signature Miso Black Cod, literally mouthwateringly tender fish with a perfect miso sauce. Also the Yellowtail Jalapeño, very tender and citrusy, a must try.
We were a big group so we were able to try all the dishes from the Kaiseki. We started off with one of my favorite dishes, the Tiger Shrimp Tempura with Creamy Spicy Sauce. Perfectly spiced and crispy shrimp pieces topped on a bed of citrusy spinach. For the salads, they offered an Avocado and Spinach Salad with Dry Miso, as well as Salmon Sashimi Salad with Matsuhisa Sauce, both super fresh and light, a very good way to start the meal. Also got the Seafood Ceviche with Coconut Tigre de Leche, very creamy, fresh and citrusy.
Then on to the rolls, we were served a total of 6 different flavors. My favorites would have to be the Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Sushi and Unagi Sushi. But the others were also fantastic, which were the Whitefish Sushi, Shrimp Tempura Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll. The fish were all extremely tender and melt in your mouth, and paired very well with the sushi rice. I'd have to say, this is one of the best tasting sushi I've ever tried.
For the main course my favorite was the Shrimp Tobanyaki with Garlic Truffle Ponzu, it was perfectly cooked and the sauce was honestly incredible, I needed more. We also liked their truffle rice, very umami fragrant rice with mushroom and some truffle sauce. The Grilled Salmon with Citrus Rice Salsa, was a pleasant surprised with a big piece of tender salmon and delicious rice. Lastly was the Brick Oven Roasted Chicken, not my favorite honestly, chicken could have been seasoned better, but it was juicy.
For the desserts, my favorite would have to be the Coconut Castella Cake with Miso Cream, very light and creamy. Their Cheesecake was also phenomenal with the raspberry sorbet. The Banana Crumble Date Ice Cream was a delicious surprise!

Read moreNo idea what is going on at Nobu but everyone locally is aware that their quality has decreased considerably. Can confidently say will never dine here again. Should have gone to the Spice Market where we would have been treated like valued customers instead of nuisances.
I organized a birthday lunch here on a Saturday. We were 27 people, approximately 50% of the people in the dining area that day. We asked to be served in the lounge - no, not possible, lunch is not served in the lounge. Okay. (Inflexibility is not a characteristic of a quality restaurant that will have a lot of business, but sure).
Some people showed up at 12:45 for a 1pm seating; the restaurant's front door was locked. Security said they would open at 1pm. It was 100 degrees outside, being Qatar in August, and a strong wind was blowing. Not ideal or sensible for a 5 star place where surely the kitchen had been working since 10am?
We had 1 server assigned to our 4 tables; it took 30 minutes + to get drink orders, the birthday girl didn't even get her place her lunch preference for the first hour we were inside.
They said we could bring our own cake for 45 QR (about $12) a slice service charge PER PERSON (would have been over $300). They did not offer a freebie cake for the celebrant (said we could order something off the menu).
The waiters we did have to ask for help looked annoyed, irritated, and angry in equal measure. The hostess at one point looked like she was rushing to the back for a good cry.
We had a lot of presents, and a nearly empty restaurant, only 50 people total at any one time - could we place our bags here on the empty sushi bar? The waiter said he would check, never came back to confirm.
At 4pm, the management sent over security to tell us to leave as lunch was over. Security guards came in to tell 20 odd women to leave a restaurant where they had just spent over $2000.
Oh and the charged the birthday girl for her meal. The person who doubled their diners...
