To all who wish to visit Royal Tandoor in souq waqif, let me add i have been a regular customer since the day they opened this branch in souq waqif over the years I have seen many changes and many staff who were friendly 😀. However yesterday evening on 24 March I visited souq waqif branch after watching Ramadan cannon fire. Surprisingly my wife and kids went early inside when I entered instead of getting welcome by a Philippine origin staff I was treated with most unpleasant and un professional behaviour by telling me that our staff are having iftar you can come after 10 minutes I saw my kids and wife sitting on open table waiting while staff were having their iftar . After 10 minutes all the staff left the table and the same lady told me the table is available. Woowo marvellous 👍. Table was not even cleaned and when I told the staff to clean i could see aggressive expressions on the female staff. With no table cloth it appeared that it was a normal dhaba. Anyway since my kids were hungry they had their dinner 🍽 but I would appreciate the management to review staff performance before induction into service which of course here is customer. Would recommend the management to kindly keep staff with high knowledge of customer value which is diminishing and customer are treated as if they are burden. Please note you run your business because of customer or have you forgotten the...
Read moreIt’s a pity that ever since hands have changed there has been a terrible drop in the quality of food and service at the Royal Tandoor, Souq Waqif. I took a guest there yesterday 6th December, 2023 at 11.25 am. It was JUST the two of us in the restaurant and a waiter from Nepal ( I didn’t ask him his name- a short fellow).
We ordered kadai mushroom, amritsari potato, vegetable biryani, dal makhani, grilled shrimps, gajar halwa and watermelon juice.
Watermelon juice took at least half a hour but even the water wasn’t served till I went to ask why there was so much delay.
The food took almost an hour to be served- and was extremely oily, dal makhani was not tasty.
I was near the kitchen door a second time to ask for the food and through the glass I saw the chef hand over one of the dishes to the waiter and to my horror- the waiter dipped one of his fingers into the curry to taste it! He was not wearing gloves even!
If he had dipped it in again I would have left the restaurant without eating or paying for the food!
How is one to trust the quality of food or service at your restaurant at this rate!?!
I for one don’t think will be visiting Royal tandoor any time soon. And here I would also like to add that the waiter was quite arrogant and rude! On top of that there was no manager who I could talk...
Read moreI was in a group of 6 people looking for a good Indian restaurant. The first we went for, and is still on Google maps has long since shut. We were greeted and showed to our table quickly.
We did wait a little bit, as the place was busy. We ordered food and drinks at the same time and then had a wait for our drinks.
When we ordered, 1 asked for as hot a curry as possible, 2 of us asked for medium, 1 ordered vegetarian and the rest mild. When the food arrived, apart from the vegetarian, they all had a very similar appearance, red! Not quite what we were expecting, as the dishes ordered in UK would have been different colours.
The portion size was very good, in fact I couldn’t finish all mine. We all ordered rice and could have shared 1 between 2 and all still had enough rice.
The dishes were all flavourful, but they all tasted the same. There was no spice heat I mean.
Good food, could have been better spiced.
There was seating outside and inside had AC. If you had a disability which makes it difficult to go up stairs or negotiate a couple of tight turns. You would have to stay outside, instead of going inside. There was 3 long tables, which you could pull a curtain around and be secluded from the rest of the restaurant.
Would I come again?
Probably try another, but it was good enough...
