Cool GEM in the olden city of Doha
Booked the Arumaila Executive room. I arrived at night but my family had check-in during the eve. The staff were pretty much friendly and helpful.
The Location Arumaila is among the 9 hotels boutique hotels by Tivoli. Arumaila is located at the main drop off point for taxi and the location is good if you need transport to move around Doha. Located at the Souq Waqif itself; it is approximately 20 minutes to the Hamad International Airport and approximate 15 to 20 minutes into the city centre You are in Souq; so food, shopping, sightseeing is made easy. Souq building architecture represents the olden days city culture.
The room Pretty well layout and décor were pretty much OK. Pretty decent size to accommodate 3 adults with additional bed in placed. All seems to function: air condition, TV, internet, water heater. Expresso machine available inside room; cool. The curtain is operated electronically; modern. Toilet is big too.
The Service They will tidy / make up the room on daily basis as and when you want. So you just let them know nicely; so cool.
Morning Breakfast There are 2 places for breakfast (if your accommodation comes with it). Since I stayed for 3 nights so we managed to tried at both outlets. First outlet is located few hundred meters from the hotel (few minutes’ walk) while the other you need to go on the golf cart/buggy. Spread and choices were OK and the food tasted OK. Staff at the coffee house/café were friendly and attentive.
Overall Overall, we noticed the staffs were very friendly and attentive; keep it up. Just I felt that there are things that can be slightly improve for the room: maybe extra wall socket. And as for the toilet: would be awesome if you add in extra place to hang your things and put your things while you shower and getting dress (will be added convenient).
Anyway; we managed to get a good and wonderful stay. And thank you for the late...
Read moreBooked Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli for a one-night stay through the Plus Qatar program. October is a great time to visit Doha, and Souq Waqif is probably the best location for a first visit. The souq itself is a great place to visit, and it is walking distance to the Museum of Islamic Art, another must-see place in Doha. As many reviews are pointing out, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli is actually a collection of different boutique hotels within the Souq. Each hotel has an individual name. After reading that it can be confusing for taxis to get there, I contacted the hotel before my trip and asked for precise directions. They suggested to tell the driver to go to the Arumaila Boutique Hotel, which worked out OK. From there, I was kindly escorted to the Najd hotel where I was staying. The room was very nice. I did not have any time to check the pool or the gym, so I won't comment on that. I had dinner at Al Shurfa lounge. The food was good and the setting very pleasant as I was seating on a roof terrace with a great view on the Doha skyline across the Doha harbour. The hotel also offers a complimentary guided visit of the Souq in the evening, which was very interesting. Our guide, Abubakar, took us to the camel caravan, horse stables, falcon souq and falcon hospital, social club where people play dama, arts center, etc... Abubakar's friendliness and willingness to share his great knowledge of the souq remains one of the highlights of my stay in Doha! Overall, the service at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotel was faultless. Check-in and check-out were both efficient and friendly. At check-out, the front office representative even made sure my Uber driver would find the right spot to pick me up. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay in this...
Read moreI don't recommend giving these hotels any business due to poor customer service as they drag their feet to do anything!!! Al Jasra hotel in particular is an interesting case as the staff are eager to show customers how "fancy" their rooms/suites are but when you fall for their trap, you find out they don't even provide basics such as hot water!!! The problem is customers have to pay the full amount for their stay upfront and therefore when you start complaining, they do not seem to bother much!!! When I found out about the lack of hot water, it took them hours to send a tech who then disappeared for hours!!! When I called the reception again, he came back reporting he can not adjust the water temp to be more than 42 degree Celsius!!! I told him that can not make any sense as I frequently visit the Gulf region in the winter and I know for sure they have hot water!!! He left and disappeared again for hours. I called the front desk and asked to speak to the manager (a guy with the name of Emad), but he never called or showed up. At this point (8-9 hours after I originally requested maintenance), I went down to the front desk and threatened to go to the police station to see if hot water can not be truly provided. As soon as I was done talking to the front desk staff, the same tech along with the manager, Emad, showed up and went to my suite. They came back 40 minutes later stating they fixed the problem but it will take hours before the hot water starts running. Again this conversation is taking place around 10 pm and I called about this problem for the first time around noon!!! After all that unpleasant experience, the water temp only went up few degrees to make the the water...
