There was a very unhelpful Receptionist on duty when we arrival who did not make checking in a pleasure. Other Receptionists on duty during our stay were were very friendly and helpful.|The bedroom was a large room with a comfortable king size double bed. A dressing table doubled up as a desk There were two easy chairs and a small coffee table. Plenty of space to store and hang clothing.|There was a decided lack of information in the bedroom. No operating instructions for the television. No instructions about the motorised curtains. No operating instructions for the air conditioner. Difficult to use room light switches which took a bit of getting used to. |The television in the bedroom did not have a Channel List but there seemed to be an international choice but with emphasis upon Arabic channels. |There was a complimentary tea and coffee tray with an assortment of beverages as well as several Complimentary bottles of Water. |The en suite bathroom had a shower and lots of hot water. No Bath. A sparse supply of a few toiletries which soon ran out.|There is a lift serving all floors. There is a very small lounge more in the nature of a waiting room in the Reception area.|Our room was noisy with a view over the Taxi Rank and Souk entrance.| We had an Evening Meal at the hotel restaurant called Al Matbakh. The Restaurant was very quiet with only two other diners. It totally lacked any atmosphere. | The food and service were both good. Because it was so quiet and lacked any sort of atmosphere, we dined there for one night only. For the rest of our time we dined elsewhere. We would not recommend the Almatbakh and would not go there again as it was far too quiet for comfort.|Breakfast was included in our booking .This taken in the La Piazza restaurant at Al Bidda Hotel. This was a two minute walk away. The breakfast was part Buffet style with a wide choice of national and international dishes...
Read moreThis boutique hotel is a great place to stay. We traveled as a family of four, staying one night and had to book 2 rooms. There are a few buildings with this hotel and we stayed in the main building where the check in desk is. You are served dates and tea while you wait for the paperwork to be completed. Both rooms were very spacious, clean and well decorated. One had a large balcony with furniture and looked out to the front of the hotel with a view of the mosque. Windows in the room and bathroom opened. Coffee/tea and water were provided in the rooms with a kettle as well as toiletries. ||Breakfast was included with our stay which was in a different building about 1 block away. Despite being Ramadan, the hotel guests are able to eat during the morning at a buffet which included local and western breakfast items. The staff are pleasant and helpful but don't go right at opening as not all items are ready. ||The area is very busy in the evenings and into late night as there are many restaurants & shops, as well as a large area with cages of live small pet animals for sale (birds, rabbits, chicks, small dogs). It is very safe to walk around. I was awake at 4:30am and walked around outside without any problems. ||Side note : If you walk to the Corniche, rent a Lime e-scooter to zip around the seawall. It was a lot of fun when we did...
Read moreI cannot imagine a better place to stay to explore Doha. We were there about a month before the start of the World Cup. This hotel is located right in Souq Waqif within sight of the Falcon Souq and near many shops and restaurants. The corniche, with views of the Doha skyline and dhow cruises, is an easy walk. There is a ATM and a Qatar Airways office with a block. The staff was extraordinary, welcoming and helpful. All we talked to spoke English. Being a boutique hotel the rooms are smaller, but more that adequate with in-room coffee and tea and nice amenities such as a large robe and plenty of bottled water. The internet was a bit sketchy, but adequate. My room was quiet, but I did have an inside room. Breakfast was served at a hotel about a half a block away. They did provide shuttle service with a gold cart, which would also take you to the closet metro station upon request. ||||One caveat, The Arulailia is one of several hotels in the souq owned by this group (Tivoli Hotel) and it was sometimes confusing which one I was reading about. I suspect the others are of a similar quality. ||||I highly recommend the Arumailia without...
