I started my order with a Negroni as opposed to my usual old fashioned because I noticed the Negroni was the only one of the two on the menu. I am sure they would have made it but I feel it would have been gambling on the skills of the bartender to make something out of the usual so I played it safe and stuck to the menu.
Now for the main, I am usually the first to say never order pasta in a sports bar or never order steak in a seafood place as a general rule. However as I was looking at the menu deciding on either a porterhouse, sirloin or tomahawk, something else randomly caught my attention, peri peri chicken...
The last time I had peri peri was years ago in Durban SA and it was quite wonderful. So I decided to break my own rules and run with it, after all rules are more like guidelines anyway...
My waitres approached and was very polite and attentive with my Negroni and a plate of sliced bread and olive tapenade. This was a very comforting sign because it is something I would naturally eat at home... The Negroni was spot on in a short round glass with one large solid it of ice. The orange rhin was fresh and well cut leaving out as much of the white as possible, I could smell the aroma of the zest as she set it down in front of me. The flavor was well balanced between the gin, campary and vermouth. Not to sweet, not to bitter and most important no gasoline quality at all. My compliments it was quite good.
The chicken was a boneless breast that had been dressed with peri peri and then grilled on a fire then cut in sections across the grain and set on my plate. The outside had a good amount of char and lightly crispy but the center was still moist and separated with the pressure of my fork. That is not easy to do. Usually when I see that much crisp on the outside the inside is dry and tough, I am happy to say this was not the case. The flavor was definitely there with the peri peri you could definitely smell and tast the savory combo of the garlic, oregano and coriander however it was a little light on the chili. Personally I like mine very strong but you could tell they were concerned about burning a customers taste buds so it was cautiously mild. All in all the flavor was still good.
Mid meal I switch to a glass of Southafrican Malbec to finish the meal it made a good compliment with the peri peri. Lastly I had ordered sauted mushrooms that are typical for steak and I would say went even better with the chicken.
All in all this was a fantastic meal and the service was very...

Read morePoor experience It was on July 26th. I went there for a business dîner.. We ordered 2 ribs and 1 tartare plus sides... I used to go there often, and it has always been a pleasure. However this time the experience was totally different... First of all we were served by a trainee, there were quite the lack of communication and limitations mixed with uncertainty about the menu and so on, like for every question he would call his superior to answer them. but we thought..mevermind he is a trainee.. This until he brought to the table a carpacho instead of the beef tartare. We mentioned to him that this was a mistake then he called his superior again... The problem is that his superior was rude to us ( a Nepalese/ Sri lanka I believe). We received no apologies for the mistake but instead he insisted on forcing the order stating that we might have ordered wrongly...!? Then he took back the wrong dish giving us an attitude like he owns the place. This incident set the tone of the night. The sweet potato fries were not cooked enough (half raw) and I didn't even dare to mention it because we were dealing with a trainee and a rude person... I do not take any pleasure in making this review and I am not trying to blame anyone that is why I refrained from sharing before, however this place isn't your cheap fast-food in the corner.. You need to understand that proper customer service & minimum training is key to have a good time, when you consider the level of standing and the cost of this place it is clearly unacceptable. I hope this is a one off... Fix it! Now having said that I might...
