I would certainly opt for the Marriott Marquis for my stays in Doha. I've tried other hotels over the years, however this meets my requirements best. It is not overpriced, has all the facilities I need for business.
The hotel is in the business area, about thirty mins from the airport. There isn't a shuttle bus, which is the only thing I would change about this hotel, but it's easy enough to get a cab from the airport.
The Executive Lounge is a calm area, with a small but practical work station. Printing/copying is fine, but there is just the one computer. The meeting room is accommodating, and I would be happy to conduct a meeting here. It may have been the time of year (Ramadan) or that this is normal for Qatar, but there were no children, making the lounge as it should be: a quiet, professional area (the number of times I have been driven back to my room due to children running around and squawking relentlessly is countless and I find astonishing in an "executive" lounge!).
Breakfast may have more choice in the main restaurant however the lounge provided everything I wanted. Likewise the evening hors d'ouvres offered a good selection of hot/cold. It is however whisked away as the clock chimes.
My room was large, clean and peaceful with a high bed and air conditioning that I could actually amend myself - sometimes this requires a rocket scientist!
Plenty of bottled water: they are much more generous than some.
Bathroom products were nice, and the bathroom itself was a decent size.
The pool is a decent size, with plenty of sun loungers. It's not claustrophobic, with loads of beds crammed into a small space, but a nice, relaxing area to spend a free afternoon.
I felt very welcome here: greeted by name by most members of staff, even though it was my first stay, and for just one night.
The door staff: in Qatar be careful as if you ask for a taxi, some hotel doormen cannot be bothered to go out into the heat and hail a cab for you, but instruct their hotel driver, which will be about four times the price of a taxI - which is not explained until you reach your destination and are stung. Here, if you ask for a taxi, you will get a taxi. The door staff are simply wonderful.
I will without doubt return to this hotel. Staff are friendly without being insincere. It is a good price, has all facilities for a business traveller. Professional, subtle and not over indulgent five star. Thankyou...

Marquis City Center Hotel Stay in Doha Dear Marriott Customer Service,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel in Doha. I checked into the hotel on February 20, 2023, for a four-day stay, and I was extremely disappointed to discover that I was given a handicapped room without my request or consent.
I was first given a twin bed. As then then to change to a king size bed. At night after may follow up they shifted me to another tower and I as u walk in I realised it’s just another twin bed room. Then again shifted to another king side but handicapped room. Your staffs are very well trained to corner a customer without any choice. I had to re look at the sign board yo make sure that it’s Marriott.
I understand that handicapped rooms are designed to cater to the needs of guests with disabilities, and I appreciate the thought behind it. However, as a non-disabled person, I did not find the room comfortable or suitable for my stay. The room lacked basic amenities, such as a a tap in the shower, bidet even a shattaf, there is an hair drier but there are no plugs to use it near any mirror and the bathroom layout was awkward. I had to use the common bathroom. I even asked them to cancel the room so I can have a comfortable stay any other hotel. They were happy to direct me to Discover Qatar to cancel the rooom. Unempathetic
In addition, I was also disappointed with the overall experience while checking I had to wait for 30 mits as your system was not updated with the reservation details. At checkout there was no one to even pick the luggage as you guys are understaffed. For morning breakfast there is one poor lady runny for all the services. Really ! That’s what is called five star?
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received.
I urge you to take my concerns seriously and take appropriate action to ensure that other guests do not have to go through similar experiences. I hope to hear from you soon regarding...
