We came here as a family to celebrate my birthday — yes, we actually chose this place again because it’s not our first time. We thought it would be nice to come back, but maybe that wasn’t our best decision. The food? Well, sometimes too salty, sometimes too sweet — especially the beef teriyaki. But hey, maybe that’s their “unique flavor.” Of course, everyone has different tastes, so maybe it’s perfect for others. Since it’s a buffet, at least there are plenty of other dishes to try — some were okay, thankfully.
Now, about the service — that’s where things got interesting. The moment we walked in, we were kindly (and repeatedly) reminded that the hotpot is “NOT FOR SHARING.” Not once, not twice — several times, just in case we forgot the first few reminders. I visited Shanghai Garden in City Center yesterday and used an Urban Point “Buy One Get One” main course offer. I would like to share my experience so the management can help improve staff awareness regarding Urban Point or any similar promotions.
During my payment, I had already prepared my Urban Point offer and showed it to the server. When she clicked it, the code appeared — but I’m not sure what happened next. It seems she forgot to take note of the code, and the offer disappeared. What surprised me was that instead of informing the manager right away, she opened the Ooredoo app again, searched Shanghai Garden, and used a new offer.
Even though the amount was small, it was clear that she was unsure what she was doing. When the manager came, I was told that “sometimes there’s a problem,” but the server didn’t admit her mistake. I didn’t say anything further because I was waiting for her to simply apologize — which never happened.
I just hope this experience serves as a learning opportunity for the team, so staff can be better guided when handling promotions and guest concerns...
