One of the older buildings in the west bay area but well maintained overall. Rooms could do with a little bit of a refurbish in terms of the tiles and carpet as they are worn out in places. We stayed in the 1 bedroom serviced suites for 2 months (couple, no kids). The room was very large with a direct sea view. The kitchen is well equipped with a induction stove, hood, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge. They also have a coffee maker and utensils and dishes for cooking and eating.
The toaster however was very rusty/dirty.
Overall the cleaning staff (Shant Parlad) were very friendly and did a good job. However the cleanliness of the room at the tile of check in needs to be improved. There were food leftovers in the cabinet and sink from the previous occupants. Deep cleaning should be done in between tennant stays.
Couple other points for improvement are listed below:
The TVs are not smart TVs so can't connect to any OTTs,. And the channels are also quite grainy in connection and limited.
Another area for improvement is they could provide a clothes drying rack as tenants usually stay here for a longer stay.
The WiFi was fluctuating in between and has connection issues.
They should have a better ventilation system for the floors/Apartments. We had neighbours who used to cook fish etc and the smell would linger in the corridors for the entire day.
The staff service (front desk) is okay overall, but can be improved, they can be more proactive for attending to guest needs. They seem to be a bit moody, sometimes overly friendly and sometimes fail to even acknowledge a guest passing by.
The in room dining menu could have better options for vegetarians and vegans.
Overall would recommend this as a pretty decent place for short term 1-2 months accomodation. Ideal for families as it has a fully equipped kitchen for cooking etc.
One last tip for the company to save money while also taking care of the planet is to reduce the use of plastic bags for the dustbins. There are several bins all around the apartment with bags replaced everyday even if there is just a tissue or two in a bin. Rather than removing the hardly filled bags with new ones, bins will dry waste can just be emptied into a bigger bin/trash bags by the cleaning staff who can accumulate the trash as they go about cleaning. That way the same bag can be retained in the apartment's bins for dry waste as the bag itself would not have...
Read moreMy family and I stayed in this apartment for our first-half trip to Doha. We originally plan to go Dubai for our family vacation, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we had to pick a different destination and we chose to go to Doha instead.
It was a chaotic family trip, we had to rebook all our itineraries, finding a place to stay on the same day itself (we are a family of 6 including 1 elderly with a wheelchair assistance), it was a really challenging time for us.
We are greeted by the receptionist staff and he offered us help (e.g. recommendations on places to go, travel map in Doha etc.) He also patiently called the guest reservation of Marriott to assist us canceling our Dubai's accomodation and offering the greatest solution to accomodate our family needs.
Your front office manager by the name of Renjith Johnson is truly a gem and a star for us! We would like to thank him for all of his assistance, his attitude going beyond the miles to ensure we are comfortable with our stay is commendable.
We were given number of room options to choose from, and while some of us are not quite satisfied with the upper level rooms (i.e. the dimmed light projections, the corridor scent, etc.), he then offered the newly renovated rooms for our family at level 1. The rooms were indeed cleaner, more spacious, and we were very delighted with the entire space.
Our room also came with breakfast, albeit it's not a buffet spread, we were really happy with the options we get - there's a choice of American Breakfast, Continental Breakfast and Arabic Breakfast. We tried every options and it really feels our stomach, and the taste is delicious as well. We really had a pleasant experience staying there, and the location of this apartment is amazing. It's walking distance to the city centre - the mall nearby is huge, lots of food options.
Overall, totally will recommend this place and shoutout to Renjith and his receptionist team, the bellboy Iskandar, for patiently helping us sorting our itinerary, answering all our questions, the service you guys provided are really top-notch. We were happy with our stay in Qatar, thanks to you guys too for making our holiday the most meaningful journey and may we cross-path again...
Read moreI stayed at the City Center Doha Marriott suites on a recent business trip after also staying at the Bahrain and Al Khobar locations. Doha is a beautiful city, but this location was not up to par compared to the other two and here's why:
I was originally checked in to room 807 and when I got in, I noticed it was very humid and the sheets were slightly damp. I asked for another room and the front desk lady said that the building was older and some have this problem. It used to be a Hyatt and was bought by Marriott a few years back. The first floor is completely renovated and much more comfortable, so she moved me to 103.
103 was good, but it was an accessible room and I don't need it. Would rather it be available for someone who did. No humidity issues, furniture was new and the flooring was nice. The problem with this room was the bathroom counters. It's all pedestal sinks, so there's nowhere to store your toiletries or just put your toothbrush. There's no hangers for your towels either and there's only one room. There's also only ONE mirror in the whole apartment. I noticed this when I had issues with my hot water and had to call for maintenance. I had to do my hair and face while he was in the bathroom trying to fix my hot water. I had a cold shower, but it did get fixed.
Additionally, the kitchen lacks quite a bit. There's no kitchen towels to wipe the counter or do any dishes. No dish soap, laundry pods adapter for the toaster.
All in all, I had to call the front desk about 10 times probably, BUT the phone won't work, so I had to call with my cellphone every time, which was fine, but not really acceptable. I'm a tolerant man when it comes to this, but I don't think this is acceptable.
The positives? There were many.
The location is perfect. The main floor is nice and the cafe is great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The maintenance crew was quick to act and resolve problems. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable.
I like Marriott and I think these location is working to resolve it's issues after acquiring a hotel from another company. They are quick to resolve issues, so that's why I gave it...
