Zapata Ciudad — Restaurant in City of Belgrade

I don’t even know where to start. So me and my friend came here because of the good reviews but seems these are written either by people who don’t know Mexican food at all or they like plain and absolutely tasteless food.

Let me say that I go out for dinner 4-5 times a week and I haven’t been eating so bad since years. This food has nothing to do with Mexican cuisine beside the names. It’s absolutely tasteless - they only seemed to use salt on the chicken and in the guacamole. The latter was of all dishes we ordered the best. Let me write to each dish something.

We had tortilla chips which seemed to be self made and were actually not to bad. We had two sauces with it guacamole and pico de gallo. The guac was ok not bad not outstanding but the pico was a joke. It was tomato’s with red onion - no lime juice and no coriander - therefore absolutely tasteless.

We ordered 4 tacos - chicken and beef. The meat wasn’t bad but they put a weird fake Mexican salsa on top. The tacos had no lime juice no taste and were the worst “tacos” I have ever had.

As main I had a quesadilla with chicken and the famous pico de gallo. Again no taste at all - I even had to use salt to somehow eat what I was able too as I was hungry and I don’t like wasting food.

In all honesty I was almost about to cry for the tasteless food I was served as I love food and it was painful to pay for it in the end!

My dearest Mexican restaurant in Belgrade, this little establishment is inconspicuously situated right by the Knez Mihailova street, the most frequented pedestrian street in Serbia, between it and Topličin venac. So, it's in a very convenient position for a hospitality business, to be sure. But, it's not too hard to walk by it, since there are plenty of other restaurants nearby as well. When the weather is warm and fair, Zapata also lays out tables outside, on the street, so you can enjoy dining outside as well. The service here is very polite and professional, and will be happy to provide you with information regarding what kind of food they have and the ingredients that go into making it. Although, they can be a tad bit slow to actually come and serve you at times. The atmosphere is quite quaint, in concordance with the theme of the restaurant, nothing too extravagant, but certainly clean, themed and pleasant. But, the true quality of the restaurant lies in its truly delicious and sublime food. The dishes are absolutely scrumptious, sizable and not too pricey. And, their menu also has a variety of options available as well, and not just for food, but drinks as well. Alcohol-wise, I would recommend one of their Mexican-themed cocktails.
