Unfortunately, my stay here was a major disappointment. Although my check-in was earlier, I returned to the hostel around 2 AM to sleep, only to discover that one of the guests in the shared room was snoring so loudly it was impossible to get any rest.
When I approached the front desk for help, I was told they couldnât do anything and was simply advised to buy earplugs from a pharmacy at 2 AM⊠No other solution was offered, and no empathy shown. I ended up leaving the hostel around 4 AM and sleeping in my car.
When I later requested a refund for a night I couldnât actually sleep at the property, they refused.
This was by far one of my worst hostel experiences not because someone snored (that can happen), but because of how poorly and rudr the situation was handled. If you value even. basic hospitality or sleep, Iâd suggest looking elsewhere
Update: The response from the hostel is, frankly, a textbook example of deflection, sarcasm, and complete lack of accountability.
Letâs be clear: my complaint was not about the concept of shared dorms or the fact that people snore. Iâve stayed in dozens of hostels around the world â I know how dorms work.
The issue was the absolute failure of your staff to respond to a guest in distress at 2 AM. Telling someone to âgo buy earplugs from a pharmacyâ at that hour is neither a solution nor a professional response â itâs lazy and dismissive.
And no, this wasnât normal snoring. It wasnât âquirkyâ or âinevitableâ â it was aggressive, thunderous, and nonstop. Think truck engine idling through a megaphone inside the room. Calling it snoring is like calling an earthquake âa gentle shake.â
Instead of offering any genuine support, your staff showed no empathy, and your management now doubles down with sarcasm. That says everything about your hospitality standards.
To future travelers: if something goes wrong here, expect indifference wrapped in condescension. Youâre...
Read moreI originally had 5 nights booked in this hostel, but checked out after 1 night. I will explain that a little further, but will start with the positive things about the hostel.
Pros - it is in a nice location in the trendy Dorcol neighbourhood of Belgrade and there are lots of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets nearby. If you are vegetarian or vegan, it is definitely the best neighbourhood to stay at as there are heaps of options. Also lots of craft breweries within walking distance. The bed was fairly comfortable and the sheets were of hotel quality. The garden area seemed nice, but sadly it was a little too cold during my stay to enjoy it properly. Hairdryers in the communal bathrooms. Nice to have a curtain on the bed for some extra privacy. A refund was provided for the 4 nights that I did not stay at the property.
Cons - the cleaning really needs to be improved, the showers and toilets are in desperate need of a deep clean, there is lots of dust on top of surfaces and it looked like it had not been mopped in forever. Old unclean towels on the floors of the shower cubicles and some black mold visible in the one on the first floor back right hand corner. Informed staff about these issues when checking out, and was told cleaning is done each shift. While that may somewhat be the case, the only cleaning I witnessed was a staff member spraying the kitchen floor a few times with some cleaning spray... A proper mopping was not performed and I think that is necessary with so much foot traffic. Other guests did not clean up after themselves in the kitchen and that is not the fault of the hostel, but I felt it could be a bit more...
Read moreFor a hostel, it's very well-kept and has great customer service, but it wasn't quite for me and I do have a few qualms. You do have to talk to them beforehand about needing a parking space, which isn't reserved but I needed to pay them 8 euros per 24 hours to find a street parking space (free overnight and on weekends), which luckily I found a perfect one right outside my bedroom window. The walls are thin, so I could hear every world the family in the room adjacent to our 4 bedroom female dorm said, talking loudly for many hours at night before bed and then in the morning. If there was availability for a bunk on the other side of the room, I probably wouldn't have had this problem, but the 6 bedroom female dorm was full. The girls I was bunked with were all very polite and most were quiet, even though they went to bed as late as midnight/1am and got up as early as 7am. Our room had some rude drunk girls on the street knock on our window for no reason while some of us were trying to sleep, but no fault to the hostel. The street it is on was a very quiet side street otherwise. The top bunk was hard to get up to with vertical embedded ladder, especially since I have some mobility issues with my knees and feet. There were privacy curtains (with a little gap that I closed with my complimentary small towel) and large lockers with a key to keep my luggage in. The beds were pretty comfortable, but very squeaky. I did not like having to walk through smokers to |get into the hostel. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the wi-fi worked well, even in...
