Napisala bih review na srpskom pošto smo počeli da pričamo srpski, ali je konobar odlučio da priča engleski sa nama makedoncima pa evo recenzije na engleskom :)
We visit Smokvica always at its different locations and the atmosphere always and everywhere is amazing. We rarely run into "moody" stuff and that is sometimes a reasonable attitude due to the busy hour but this one is not a one that deserves a shut mouth since it is going to ruin the reputation of this amazing place.
We were having drinks at around 10:30PM and were 4 adults and a sleeping baby in a stroller. As we all have worked in restaurants and hospitality we do know how annoying a stroller on a wrong place can be, so we paid attention at putting it at a place that was aside of the walking area.
Everything was fine until the waiter started talking with us in English while we were talking Serbian to him. That's okay, we survived that with just wondering about the matter, but another thing was just too rude. :)
11:15PM and he started pulling chairs loudly and intently as we all concluded while a sleeping baby was breastfeeding... I guess he wanted to go home? One table, than a second one, than a third one and it's just too much. And we kind of wanted to ignore that also (not the baby of course), but he actually took and blow out our candle... only our candle while all of the other 5 tables remaining with guests were sitting and finishing their drinks with their candles on :D
So rude. The attitude as well. The energy, not even worth mentioning. The name on the bill: Vlada Hadzi We left Smokvica Jovanova a little disturbed and...

Tucked away on a quiet, leafy street in the soul of Dorćol, Smokvica Dorćol B&B is more than just a place to stay — it’s a feeling, a rhythm, a gentle exhale in the heart of Belgrade.
From the moment you step through the charming courtyard, shaded by fig trees and ivy, you’re transported into a world where time slows down. The host is a true gem — warm, intuitive, and effortlessly kind — making you feel less like a guest and more like a cherished old friend returning home.
The rooms are unexpectedly spacious, bathed in natural light, with soft linens, vintage details, and the calming scent of lavender that lingers in the air. Every corner whispers comfort and quiet elegance. There’s a feeling of serenity here, of thoughtful simplicity that embraces you the moment you close the door behind you.
Breakfast is an affair to remember — freshly baked pastries, ripe fruit, eggs made just the way you love them, and fragrant coffee that seems to taste better in the morning sun streaming through the windows. Everything is prepared with love, plated like art, and served with a smile.
And then there’s the location — perfection. Nestled in historic Dorćol, you’re just steps away from winding cobblestone streets, bohemian cafés, hidden galleries, and the murmurs of the Danube. At night, the soft glow of the lanterns and the hum of nearby jazz bars create a melody that lingers in your memory.
Smokvica Dorćol is a place where stories begin — and where you’ll already be dreaming of your return before...
Read moreInterior is nice. I've been to the toilet only to wash my hands, but what I've seen was very good-clean, enough space.
There's a lot of staff and my impression is that service isn't bad when you manage to draw their attention. If you wait for them to approach you first, you'll wait forever. This is a bit of a problem, especially in the evening (they can't see you staring at them because it's dark) and/or when there's a lot of people. Service could be improved.
Lebanese chicken is excellent! In comparison to other places nearby, with similar atmosphere, food is a bit pricey (you pay a bit more for a somewhat smaller portion). However, I do think it tastes better and not having a huge meal can be quite a good thing (what's the point of overeating, especially when the food isn't that nice), although it would be nice if it cost the same as bigger meal. I have to compliment food a bit more: chicken was great, well prepared, zucchini and eggplant were also well prepared and not almost raw. (I cannot stress enough how important this is!!! People seem to think that it's perfectly fine to serve almost raw zucchini and eggplant. It isn't!!! They should be cooked/baked.) Cheese was amazing, bread was amazing.
The atmosphere: I'd say the place itself is perfect - not too posh, not too relaxed. However, I do think people who come here can be a bit rude...
