From the very first moment our party was greeted at the door, it was obvious that El Toro takes genuine pride in hospitality. The front-of-house team glided between tables with the effortless choreography of a top-tier fine-dining room, yet radiated the down-to-earth warmth for which Serbia is famous. Water glasses were never allowed to dip below half full, plates were cleared only after a courteous inquiry, and every request—no matter how small—was handled with a smile that reached the eyes. Perfect service, plain and simple.
And then the food arrived… • Shrimp Čorba was the ideal opening act: a silky, paprika-kissed broth brimming with plump prawns and just enough heat to wake up the palate. • Grilled Salmon came off the charcoal with textbook diamond char-marks, its interior still glistening and buttery. The accompanying carrot purée was so velvety and naturally sweet it could have doubled as dessert, while a drizzle of fragrant olive oil and a squeeze of lemon pulled the whole composition into focus. • Stroganoff “Sote” landed like a heartfelt embrace on a cool evening—fork-tender beef morsels and woodland mushrooms folded into a lush, mustard-cream sauce, served atop perfectly steamed rice that soaked up every last drop. • Šopska (Serbian) Salad showcased the region’s produce at its peak: sun-ripened tomatoes, crunchy cucumber and a sparkle of onion, all lightly dressed so the vegetables themselves could sing. • A basket of still-warm house bread proved irresistible for mopping up sauces, and the barista’s cappuccino arrived with foam so glossy it could have been poured straight from a magazine page. • Finally, the signature citrus-mousse torte—layer upon layer of airy sponge, whipped cream and tangy orange glaze—closed the meal on a note that was at once feather-light and indulgent.
Even with premium mineral water and coffee, the bill came to a remarkably reasonable 10 750 RSD for two—a figure that borders on unbelievable given the calibre of cooking and the flawless front-of-house performance.
In short, Steak House El Toro hits every target: vibrant flavours, impeccable technique, thoughtful wine & beverage pairings, and a service team that treats every guest like a regular. Whether you are a Belgrade local or a traveller hunting for that one memorable dinner, put El Toro at the very top of your list. I would return in a heartbeat—and next time I’m ordering the salmon again, because perfection...
Read moreI choose this place to celebrate my birthday. By reviews and menu place look decent, so I did a reservation for 8 persons. Well, they don’t have a table for 8 persons. They barely have a space to fit all our company together, because all they have is half-basement premises, as wide as airbus airplane, with no ventilation at all and with lights like they trying to save money on electric bill. Okay, maybe they got good food and service. For price they set on menu - food should be good, right? Well, no) When first three people (me included) came, and owner/manager/whatever managed to make a place for 8 people (at this point I didn’t understand why they even approve my reservation) we sat, and manager gave us local brandy, “compliment from me” as he said. I don’t know was it a compliment or I did pay for it, because I didn’t look at the receipt on our way out. After 15 more minutes, when other people managed to come we make our orders, that included meat, grilled vegetables, pasta and another local brandy. Drinks came fast. With another one that we had as compliment it’ll gonna be the second portion of brandy without any snack. Maybe they trying to get their costumers drunk to avoid such reviews, idk How long did it take to cook the fried vegetables and pasta? Correct answer - as long as the meat, about a hour So we waited one hour, with our drinks getting warm, without anything to eat with drinks before every dish has been served. Why they waited hour for vegetables and pasta - I don’t know… While we waited - managed assumed that we’re bored, and decided make the music louder in the middle of conversation between our company, but after I ask him to lower it back - he did it
Okay, finally, food is served. It’s time to taste out money and waiting. The meat was… Well I cannot say it was awful, but for 3500rsd for their brand steak it was pretty much close to awful. Lots of salt, meat feels like chewing gum. Not only mine, but everyone’s who order something with”steak” in the name. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. Celebration was completely ruined. After first bite, I said that’s enough, asked for bill and we move to a much better place
Honestly I don’t know what people found in this place, but for me it’s just another mediocre restaurant that maybe was decent, but now this place just...
Read moreUnfortunately, this place is extremely overrated and overpriced.
I ordered a Mexican rumsteak, which turned out to be not spicy at all (in contrast, the pepper steak that my husband ordered was very spicy and literally floated in peas of black pepper). The meat's doneness was uneven: the center was slightly undercooked, while the edges were dried out and tasted as if boiled. The meat itself was a little tough. The only things I truly enjoyed were the mashed yams with potatoes and the homemade bread.
The atmosphere in the restaurant leaves much to be desired: the main dining room is located in a basement, the lighting is poorly designed, and the tables are placed too close to one another. The service was decent, but the dishes were not served at the same time. The tea selection was disappointing: the only options were mint or chamomile, there was not even black tea.
As a complimentary gesture, all guests received a large glass of red wine. Initially, I thought it was a gift in honor of a public holiday, but then the waitress came over and asked for a favorable review. Sadly, this finally spoiled the overall impression...
