Absolutely awful experience. Most the people at this hostel live here permanently, and their belongings take up the entire room. The guy has a whole computer setup with two screens, and was up until 6am working. I requested a lower bunk but was still given a top. The woman below me must be at least 80. She kept turning the room light on at all hours, and making loud noises constantly. There are two bathrooms for all the guests, and they are always occupied with a queue. There must be at least 30 people packed into this small apartment. There is no space and no privacy. The smokers on the balcony let all the smoke flow into the kitchen, which is already overcrowded and gross. The kitchen sink was covered with a “don’t use” sign. There is a big dog that blocks the narrow hallways and smells disgusting. The staff member (man) was so rude and unfriendly every time he spoke to me. Payment was cash only even though everywhere else in Belgrade accepts card. Honestly my worst ever hostel experience. Please don’t stay here.

We were welcomed like we were family! Had an absolute lovely time at this hostel, it was very homely! Igor was extremely accomodating: my partner and I originally booked the largest doom room (6 beds if I remember correctly) but he upgraded us free of charge to a 4 bed room as the one we originally booked did not have a window. This meant a lot considering it was easily over 30°c, and our roommate was thankfully very understanding of us having the air con on full blast! Igor would also take us all out to visit the city in the evenings and give us recommendations. Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time in Belgrade and the summer heat did deter us from going outside but if we were to return, we'd definitely come back here... Hopefully you'll have the tshirts ready 😉 Also Dante is another reason to return!🐶

I had an amazing stay at this hostel! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel right at home. I met some fantastic people. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common areas had a really cozy vibe that made it easy to relax or socialize. The location is perfect, close to all the main attractions, and the hostel offers lots of useful tips and activities. Great value for the price, and I’d definitely stay here again. Very polite and super friendly employees. Especially - Igor. Thank you for the best weekends in my life. Highly recommended! 100/10

I recently spent a night at this hostel in Belgrade, and here is my detailed experience:

Positive: The hostel offers a good value for its price, making it a budget-friendly option for travelers. Its central location is quite a perk, allowing easy access to many of Belgrade's attractions. A standout feature of the hostel is the friendly staff who were accommodating and welcoming, enhancing the overall experience.

Neutral: The hostel had a few elements that might not appeal to everyone. Firstly, it harbours a large dog on the premises, which can be a bit intimidating for those who are not fond of animals or have a fear of dogs, as was the case with my friend. Additionally, the environment feels more like a communal living space rather than a conventional hostel, which might be a neutral point depending on individual preferences. The hostel is situated alongside a busy street, which, when the windows are open, lets in quite a bit of noise, potentially affecting your sleep quality. Also worth noting is the cash-only payment policy, which might be an inconvenience for those preferring digital or card payments.

Negative: A significant drawback was the dependency on the behaviour and consideration of other guests staying in the same room. In our case, the roommates were either unwell or returned to the hostel late at night, creating a lot of noise and somewhat diminishing the peacefulness of our stay.

Overall, this hostel could be a good choice if you are looking for a budget-friendly and centrally located place to stay with a friendly atmosphere. However, your experience might vary greatly depending on the other occupants in the room, so it might be a bit of a gamble. It's perhaps more suited for those who are comfortable with a communal living atmosphere and potential noise disturbances. Please be prepared for cash-only transactions...

Me and my husband stayed at Habitat Hostel for one month. The atmosphere was truly uncomperable to other places we stayed so far. So warm and welcoming. They had the sweetest dog and we had the pleasure to befriend him and taking him for walks sometimes. Igor, the owner, IS the key to the city. He had awesome recommendations about what to do or see around Belgrade. It was like having your own personal trip planner :) They have private rooms, as well as dormitories to choose from and for a very cheap price. In the common room you have movie nights most of the time. Very cool to have if you have nothing planned for the night. You can also rent a bike and sometimes have delicious dinners for a small fee which are, in my opinion, a must to try! All in all we really enjoyed our stay and felt like locals there, while making a lot of friends. It's the only option that we'll consider from now on if we visit Belgrade in the future. Thank you for everything and see you very...
