I am writing this, so that the management can improve on their service.
Dine in on 19/7/22 5.04pm and had an unpleasant experience with the supervisor Hafiz.
Before I went in the restaurant, I checked twice with Hafiz on the ingredients for the signature mixed grill as shown in the conversation below.
Me: can I check what does the mixed grill consist of? ( while pointing at the menu) Hafiz: Beef and chicken (pause) Me: Beef and chicken and...? Hafiz: beef and chicken only ( in an impatient tone) Fyi:the restaurant was not crowded
As shown above, I was reassured by Hafiz that the mixed grill only consist beef and chicken, before I got a seat in the restaurant.
However when I received my food and started eating. I realised that the dish had lamb and bacon in it...
I usually avoid lamb because of the smell of it.
I did not make any fuss, because for me it is not that disastrous as it is only preference. If I was give the information that it consists of lamb then I would have chose another option.
However, it will be disastrous if the food is served to customers who have food allergies or can't eat the meat due to religious purposes.
I'm quite flabbergasted that the supervisor does not seems to know their own restaurants' dishes.
I hope the management can look into this and ensure this won't happen to other customers.
Another thing that I want to mention is that I think it would be good for the restaurant to keep an extra sets of disposal masks for the customers if they require them.
When I was paying my meal, I asked if I can have an extra mask to change for hygiene purposes. However, I was told that they do not have any masks which is quite surprising as tbh, I have been to many services places such as salons, facial places, cafes and restaurants, and all of them tend to provide masks for their customers when requested.
With all that said, other employees seems to be fine the old lady who served me my food provided me with decent customer service.
And the food was okay.
With that being said, after the meal, I would think twice before stepping into Jack's place again.
Genuine review. Ps: I would give 1.5 if there...
Read moreWe ordered 4 student meals and the portion sizes were so shocking and very disappointing… The spaghetti was so small I could finish it in 2 mouthfuls. And as for the steak, I would say it was as small as a little girl's fist. We were told by the manager that the 160g steak we ordered was cut into 2, but just by looking at the steak, i found it very hard to believe the steak was anywhere close to 80g. (image for reference of steak and spaghetti portions) The steak was so pathetic, i did not even have to cut into it to finish it. I honestly thought I had ordered from the kids menu with how small and pathetic it was. I was utterly disappointed with how inadequate the portion size was.
Personally, i think the pictures in the menu and the promotion picture outside conveyed the wrong idea. It was very misleading as our expectations were higher, so when the food was served to us, you can only imagine our disappointment to see our expectations were nowhere close to met. Do not be deceived by my picture, the top down angle makes the spaghetti and steak look bigger than it actually was.
Now let's talk about the actual taste of the food. The taste was equally appalling. The cake we ordered was dry and the ice cream had a weird texture. Jack's Place is most known for its steaks, but the steak was flattened, dry, chewy and tasted like something I could get from a kopitiam but with a higher price tag slapped onto it. The vegetables were tasteless and dry as well, however the chicken and fish was alright, and infinitely more worth than the steak. Overall, not a good meal and definitely not worth wasting money on.
The atmosphere is the only saving grace for this place, but the service was underwhelming… the staff looked depressed while serving us the entire time, apart from one aunty who had great service. Their communication however clearly needs work as when I asked for the desert, I only received one when we had ordered more. If I could give zero stars, I would. Under no circumstances will I ever patronise this establishment again.
TLDR: Small portion size and bad tasting food, would not come back or to recommend even if the...
Read more(B) 2nd Visit: 16 Sep 2024 Mon 1254 - 1350 - 2 adults - Spent S$17.75 for one Monday Set Meal (S$14.80 ++ 10%/9%) Plus AIA complementary semi-set meat without soup. (1) Still crowded despite Monday lunch hours. (2) Battered Fish & Chicken Steak - served with spaghetti, quite generous, but spaghetti too hard, taste okay. (3) Monday - Dory Fish set, tasted good, size okay. (4) Coffee not hot enough, can see from far poured from glass jar with hot plate, below standard, some hawker centre stores could be better. Perhaps its part of set, could not expect too much, yet for a ++ long established restaurant, a bit disappointed. (5) However, we still managed to finished the food. Hope to see some improvements on the non-main dish items when we visit again. (6) Struggled with pouring out the chilli sauce, bad dining experience. (7) Inattentive service, we finished the main dishes for over 10 minutes, nobody came along with coffee and dessert, we have to alert the waiter for our coffee. Looked around, the place was roughly 80% full. (7) The time on the bill was 10:38, it was wrong, we only visited around 12.54pm. Overall, compared to last 2023 visit, have to drop one star. (A) 04 Nov 2023 Sat 1150 - 1240 - 3 adults - spent S$63.91 (Excluding one AIA complementary set meal), hence average S$31.96 per person. A crowded Saturday afternoon, was offered seats despite without reservation. Thanks. What we eat, refer to photos & menu https://www.jacksplace.com.sg/jp-menu/ A great variety of dishes to choose. Can get better deals during weekdays. Saturday could be a bit pricey even with $3 senior discount on two selected dishes. The key reason may be the ++ (+10% Service + 8% GST, 9% from 01 Jan 2024). Good atmosphere with warm lightings. Seating arrangement could be further improved with right furniture in view of space constraints. Best refer to menu first before arrival. https://www.jacksplace.com.sg/jp-menu/ Can place orders by scanning QR, hence easy and efficient. CKL 04 Nov 2023 Sat...
