We visited this restaurant after over a year. The place has not changed much inside & is still a family operated restaurant. However the Prices have increased, GST increased & there is now a Service charge of 5 %. (All adding upto the total cost). Further the quality of the Food , Taste & Quantity too has dropped sadly ! When this was raised with the Owners, they mentioned that costs had risen tremendously since Covid & hence they had NO option but to not only raise prices , but also charge a service charge. Regarding the quality & quantity served, they said they would look into it . The place is a friendly place , but unlike earlier , it is not reflecting " Value for Money".
This small family owned Indian Restaurant tucked away inside OMNI theatre in Jurong East is an unpretentious restaurant serving North Indian Style food. The decor & tables are simple & spartan. However..the food is FIRSTCLASS in taste, presentation & quantity ! Further all items are freshly cooked & come hot & appeatising. The owners are very friendly, offer pappad refills free & further restaurant charges no gst or service charge. Lastly they also serve Beer, Wine & Liquor. A very quiet place for an excellent meal at a reasonable cost! A MUST Visit place.
Jun 2024 Phoenix Restaurant used to be a reasonably priced Indian Restaurant owned by a South Indian family but serving North Indian Food . Apart from serving tasty , spicy dishes in a good quantity/ dish , the service was very good & further it was unique in " Not Charging GST or Service Charges" ! This feature was very well appreciated by many friends ,colleagues & family members -who all felt their "got good value for their money" ! Further the Staff were most friendly & every obliging to requests. Unfortunately , when I visited this restaurant (with my colleagues) yesterday -after a gap of over 8 months, I observed how drastically things had changed. The portions in the dishes were smaller, the taste milder & lacking the uniqueness & flavours noticed earlier & the price /dish raised by $2-$3/- dish. (Whilst raising prices was understandable) -due to the inflation in past year-the shocking thing was that a 8 % GST charge was now added to the bill & to " add insult to injury" -a 5 % Service charge was also imposed - which actually raised the total cost by about 20 % + Overall! Service was still good, but the Staff at the counter were no longer pleasant or friendly -but instead egotistic, cocky & displayed arrogance & seemed to have an attitude problem- leaving one a bit disappointed by the visit. I do not think I will again visit this restaurant again...

Navaratan Pulao - 3 stars Didn't enjoy the sweet candied fruit in it (think maraschino cherries, not just currants). Would go with their savoury/plain rice the next time.
Garlic naan - 5 stars
Fish tikka - 4.5 stars Not too salty. A bit dry and watch for bones. Otherwise great flavour.
Bhindi Masala (lady's fingers in masala gravy) - 4.5 stars
Methi Paratha (whole wheat topped with fenugreek leaves) - 5 stars Their breads are phenomenal. Still not sure what fenugreek tastes like. But it's whole wheat and that really comes across, in a good way. Nutty and delicious.
Keema Naan (stuffed with spicy minced mutton) - 4 stars Too gamey for me but my husband enjoyed it. Not salty, which I liked.
Paneer Tikka (marinated in yogurt and tandoori spices) - 3.5 stars Too dry. Much preferred the fish tikka.
Paneer Hariyali (paneer marinated in fresh green herbs, spices, yogurt grilled in tandoor) - 3.5 stars Similar to the paneer tikka - too dry. Prefer Palak Paneer.
Malabar Prawn Curry - 3.5 stars A rich, non-spicy coconut milk curry - tasted like what you might get in a Thai restaurant. Bit too rich for me.
Gobi 65 - 3 stars Prefer bigger cauliflower chunks, fried a bit more. And more sauce. I'll try Gobi Manchurian next.
Brinjal Bharta ($10) - 3.75 stars For me there was a weird flavour but I can't explain it. Otherwise the texture and flavour are good.
Navaratan Pulao - 3 stars Didn't quite like the dried fruit bits (think maraschino cherry kind of bits, not just currants). I'll stick with the other savoury/plain rice dishes.
Dal Makhani (black lentil and kidney bean curry) - 3 stars Too creamy for me.
