This brewery is really bold and have good intention to introduce new beer flavors that i could not find in other brewery however poor execution and flavors was not harmonised. Ordered the tasting platter which included 5 beers which all are rather bitter and all the beer tasted rather flat
First the cherry beer taste like bandung or rose syrup and does not have a hint on of cherry taste in it. It still contains interesting nodes but the bitter after taste that comes with it does not match the rose flavor. Would reccomend a lesser bitter hops to go with this beer and might also consider using slightly sweet milk foam to top it.
Second, pandan beer just lacks depth and again ends with bitter after taste. Would reccomend adding coconut to the blend to boost the taste profile.
Third, the ginseng beer was a rather good attempt but its too bitter for my liking, i can tell that really high quality korean ginseng was added but it doesnt match well again with the bitter hops.
Fourth, dont really like the jasmine beer, it taste like brewerk attempt at it. Its a rather acquired taste so i guess this is acceptable and should be ordered as it doesnt lack any jasmine taste
Lastly, the weizen, taste like a flat cider that lacks the crisp and sourness of a cider that i prefer. Not sure what a weizen should taste like but its rather lacking in its taste.
Next on i ordered a pint of drunkel and ipa, These are quite average in taste. Ipa is rather special but ipa lovers would not have liked it as it lacks the hops taste profile. It ends with a sweet honey after nodes which i guess is special in its own way. Drunkel has a caramised coffe taste to it which is acceptable for a dark beer and i find it quite ok.
Next on i ordered a fish and chips. It was rather overfried. But the fish is defintely chunky and not soaked with oil. Im not really a big fan of the fish used, would had preferred white cod if there is such an option it will be great. The chips seems to be different from their regular fries and it seems to be darker in color and thinner. Would had preferred thick chips that they have in their menu to go along.
In conclusion, i would not reccomend this place as of now as there are much better places to catch both the drinks and food in the east. But would defintely revisit again to check on the improvement as i believe they are passionate in their beer from their selection of home brewed beers and also detailed in using the best ingredient for their food which justify the price but...
Read moreMany of my pals who has been residing in Jurong East vicinity was quite surprised when I mentioned about Fountain Microbrewery in Snow City when I suggested this as one of the places to chill out after a day's of work.
We were there on a weekday evenings and the place was rather quiet to our liking.
Making use of Halibut's fillet and tastily battered in their own craft beer, it makes a difference on their dish compared to other places. The dish was served with Tartar sauce and Coleslaw.
Fish and Chips - $28
For the mocktails, we had the Ocean Breeze that was a mixture of Coconut, fresh lemon juice, strawberry puree, blue curacoa syrup with sprite.
Ocean Breeze - $12
Surprisingly the Vongole Pasta had whet my appetite for more. Spaghetti texture was al dente. They were cooked in lime juice, chilli flakes, garlic and flamed with white wine.
Vongole Pasta - $28
If you are bringing kids there, they are not forgotten. There are a few menu selection for them and we had the Kid's Fish & Chips. The Fishes were lightly battered and fried to golden brown, this meal was served with a dollop of coleslaw and fries.
Kid's Fish and Chips - $17
There are a variety of Craft Beer on their menu, 10 in fact. Each pint (435ml) costs $14 and all were brewed in-house.
The Deep Soul IPA was strong and flavourful, definitely a hop-lovers dream.
The Golden Ale was full bodied with subtle fruity taste and not that complex or bitter.
The Blood Line Cherry gave a cherry hint with a marvelous after taste.
While we were here for some drinks and bites, we decided to have their recommended Fountain Platter for sharing topping up with a portion of coleslaw. The platter consist of a medley of grilled pork shabu shabu, fish bites, BBQ Pork Ribs served with mesclun salad tossed in classic balsamic vinegar and fries.
Fountain Platter - $55 + $5 (Coleslaw)
These crispy and delicious chicken wings were well fried and served with their secrete recipe home made BBQ sauce.
Home Made Chicken Wings - $13 (6 Pcs)
The last sharing bites we had on the table pairing our glasses of beer will be the baby squid. Not many places served this and these baby squid were deeply fried into golden brown in colour and served with mayonnaise sauce.
Baby Squid - $14
Price of food was on a steep side. Nonetheless, if you are looking for an environment that is away from the Shopping Malls, this can be a good choice. On top of that, they do have live band performances on some evenings...
Read moreHad super high hopes coming into this place with wonderful decor and an amazing cosy atmosphere. The waiter was also extremely friendly and was excited to try the draft beers.
Then it went all downhill from there. Ordered their signature burger and aglio olio with two beers. Decided to top up $3 for truffle fries as indicated on the menu. But lo and behold. The aglio olio came cold with very burnt garlic bits. And the truffle fries were miserable. Super small portion of fries with no truffle taste at all.
Thought I’ll nicely feedback and check if they gave me normal fries by mistake but she became all defensive saying that topping up for truffle fries is merely them pouring truffle oil on top of the fries.
The description for truffle fries on the online menu indicates that there will be melted cheese on top but the fries came entirely bare. She then proceeded to tell me that the normal truffle fries will come with cheese but the topped up truffle fries is just a sprinkle of truffle oil.
Didn’t want to make things difficult so I just accepted it. But for the price, the entire experience is just bad. The food is also unacceptable. Not to mention the misleading menu.
I kid you not, this place has a lot of potential though. It has nice draft beers, located in a quiet cosy corner of Science Centre with nice decor. Maybe one day if they work on the teething issues, it could become a gem...
