Don't understand the rave reviews for this place.
Servings were big and prices were low. 3 normal eaters can share 2 bowls of noodles comfortably. Xiao long bao at 6 for $4, guo tie at 12 for $5, noodles at $4.
Noodles were thick and chewy. Hand made on the spot but I feel other la mian is better. big serving.
but... the rother food I ordered was bad. Xiao long bao skin was thick, like dumpling-thick. Crystal Jade is my gold standard for xlb. Other good hawkerr stalls are the Chinese food stall at Alexandra Village and the one at Zion road. These are like sui jiao masquerading as xlb.
Guo Tie were deep fried. They are supposed to be pot stickers- pan fried. Skin was thick and floury. Meat was not tasty. If you want real good ones, try the one at Zion Road food centre.
Chao shou (chilli oil dumplings) were sui jiao in chilli oil. They are supposed to be wantons with thin and smooth skin. Not just sui jiao with chilli oil over them. Again the 2 other hawker stalls have much better versions. Or other China food hawker stalls.
Really bad food. If you tried the other 2 popular China food stalls, this is really bad despite the good...

Aunties here are lovely but I can barely speak English let alone Chinese, so I’m bind to use my handy primary math education by saying which dish I want by pointing or saying the number of the dish. Yeah very sophisticated stuff right here, parents will be proud of what a wonderful renaissance men I am. They got great dumps too with that chili oil, black vinegar and thin slice of ginger is just “oohhh chef’s...

Nonetheless, the noodles were deeply coated and I enjoyed the slight acidity which helped whet the appetite. The handmade noodles have a more dense bite rather than springiness. There was also a generous amount of variety of ingredients providing addictive pockets of texture. 🍜 Absolutely worth it for a full substantial meal which costs
