I had the opportunity to return after a long work assignment overseas and have some home foods. To say the least I cannot cover all. So for some cravings, I can only make do with quick bites at coffee shops.
This time I have a craving for Nasi Lemak, or coconut milk rice. And this time it is regrettable.
Located within food clique coffee shop is Guan Nasi Lemak.
As a returning heartland boy, I am looking forward to a really good plate of fragrant coconut rice. Crushed though. In a word, bland. The rice is tasteless. The accompanying dishes are just dull, despite the spices used everything just went flat.
And at the drinks stall, servers seems unwilling to work and prefers to snack on their melon seeds. My simple order of tea came as coffee. Corrected the order and it came back as tea but without the sugar.

I recommend visiting Foodclique for breakfast if you love fresh off the griddle prata or dosa!
Al Mubarak Restaurant Pte Ltd. is my go-to spot for Masala Dosa and Vadai. I always look forward to eating here because of the fresh coconut chutney and curries! FYI, itâs really chill here between 7:00am and 7:30am. The drink stall usually gets packed between 7:40am and 8:00am.
Tip: Be patient if youâre ordering the Masala Dosa, because sometimes the Aloo Masala is still on the stovetop because most of the customers ordered pratas.
The bossman is welcoming and generous, their regulars are cheerful and...
Read moreNice, clean food center. We tried the indian Muslim shop, they serve really good curry for the prata. We also tried the biriyani, big portion size with a very big chunk of meat and comparatively lesser portion rice served with a curry. Definitely worth trying it. We were there quite early to grab biriyani, not sure how soon they get done with it. The earlier the better- I suppose. We also tried the prawn fried dumplings and veg steamed buns. I liked the fried dumplings but didn't enjoy the steamed buns as much. It was my first time trying it, and I didn't...
