PHEASANT PUB — Restaurant in Bratislava

We were a family of 4 who travelled to Bratislava for the ACDC concert this weekend. We visited this bar on Saturday for drinks, which we had outdoors at a table for a few hours.. We have to say.. We received the Worst bar service we have ever witnessed in all the country's we have visited.. The manner of the majority of bar staff was absolutely horrific... When we went order drinks.. Staff looked at us in distain.. As if it was too much of an effort to take our different orders.. Numerous times we asked for ice, to go with a Vodka... They looked at us as if we were ordering something impossible to serve?? We were waiting approximately 30 minutes to receive each order? Why drinks couldn't be collected at the bar.. I don't understand? As the bar area was always empty? Then in Sunday afternoon, we witnessed the same service and manner from staff.. We ordered 2 classic burgers, which arrived after 1 Hour?? Only for them to be given to us... COLD.. And I mean COLD!!! I opened the burger to see it's temperature to verify.. And cut a slice of it.. Guess what... Cold!! When I returned our food to the bar... A young lady informed me I MUST pay for the food.. Because there was a slice taken from the burger.. She agreed the food was cold.. But gave no apology.. Only I must pay.. ( I used some colourful Irish language, and told her under no circumstances was I going to pay for food that may leave me in hospital) regardless to say We didn't pay for the attempted of a meal.. But paid for drinks.. Please don't tell me it was a busy weekend.. Companies should prepare for busy weekends and busy crowds.. Your bar obviously did not... We have been to Bratislava numerous times.. And this will be our last... I work as a journalist in Ireland, and will be doing an article about our experience sadly, the toilets for men and women were like a 3rd world countries.. No lighting.. No paper to dry hands..no soap.. Toilet seat on the floor for 2 days we visited...

After a long day of walking I decided I was in the need of some good old fashioned pub food and the pheasant pub would be the right place for that desire. It turned out to be a clear and utter disappointment due long a waiting time for below average food and way to informal behaviour of the waiter. Below paragraphs will justify my review in detail.

First of all because the behaviour of the waiter was way to informal. Considering that the waiter has to work for tips some is understandable, however depending on your personal boundaries (they are at your discretion) behaviour might feel uncomformtable. I did not feel uncomfortable, however a more formal approach would after I complained about the long waiting time for my food (main disappointment) appropriate.

Main disappointment is that I had to wait close to an hour to get the double burger I had ordered. Apologies only followed after I started to complain. I do understant that it can sometimes busy in the kitchen, however in that case a simple and small chat to inform me or other clients is not only polite and decent, but it would have solved the issue.

Was the quality of the food worth waiting for? It was below average at best, so clearly not.

Was the level of service worth a tip? The blatant way the waiter asked for a tip he clearly thought he was entitled to a tip. It was the first time I directly and clearly told the waiter he is not...

We visited this place twice to ensure our review would be fair and transparent. The location is very nice, and the prices are affordable, but the service is shockingly bad. There is one server, a man who is incredibly rude (the two times the same guy, the older and bald). If he happens to be the owner, I might try to understand his behavior—but even in that case, it doesn’t justify treating people so poorly.

During our first visit, we witnessed him handing a bill to an elderly couple to pressure them to leave, even though they clearly told us they weren’t ready to go. On our second visit, we decided to sit on the second floor. After asking another employee for permission (who confirmed it was fine), this man approached us, complained rudely, and then practically ordered us to leave as soon as possible.

He cynically asked us to add a tip to the bill, as it wasn’t included.

Also check the bill as we had to remove several things we did not have and they just added.
