Located in the heart of Bratislava, this pub combines traditional Slovak culture with a modern, cozy atmosphere. Known for brewing its own beer on-site, it offers a selection of delicious local craft beers, from light lagers to dark ales, all served fresh from the tap. The pub also serves classic Slovak dishes, such as bryndzové halušky (potato dumplings with sheep cheese), roasted pork knuckle, and hearty soups, making it a great spot to experience authentic Slovak cuisine alongside your beer. The interior is warm and rustic, with wooden tables and a relaxed vibe that makes it perfect for an evening out with friends or family. This pub is loved by both locals and tourists for its friendly service, great beer, and genuine Slovak experience. If you’re looking for an authentic pub experience in Slovakia, this is the place to go!

Slovak Pub is an old-school Slovakian bar and restaurant serving drinks and traditional cuisine. The pub occupies a super spacious building with multiple dining rooms, and even getting inside is an adventure with lots to see. To eat, I ordered the sour cabbage soup, which came with a generous portion of sauerkraut, chunks of sausage and cured meats, and chunks of vegetables in a spicy, sour broth. Another traditional dish was the creamy garlic soup with cheese served in a homemade bread bowl. The garlic soup was flavorful but not overly rich or creamy, and the rustic bread bowl made for the perfect vessel to carry the flavors of both the soups. Overall, the dingy yet lively atmosphere of this restaurant was definitely worth the visit, and everything came at great prices too!

I have a feeling that the older Bratislavan restaurants work together on creating a similar menu and general experience. I don't know if that is true - but both places we went to had the same distinctive style of menu and overall atmosphere, and both places were a bit lacking and disappointing when it came to the food. Which is sad, because you would come here to taste the best versions of typical Bratislavan (or Slovakian) food - but it falls short. To be fair, my food here was nice in flavour - but not wow, and also not much. I liked it because I came here in the late morning, I don't think I would have been satisfied if I would have ordered this in the afternoon or for dinner. My girlfriend's portion size was good, but her soup also wasn't wow, merely fine (I know it can be better). The service was slow, and in the end we were 'forgotten' for over fifteen minutes (while we were here with all our bags, on our way to the train station...). We stood up and asked multiple people of the staff if we could pay, but we kept having to wait, and it seemed our waiter was busy doing the dishes. At long last, the staff allowed us to pay, and then asked us for a tip. When we declined, the staff visibly became annoyed. Really bad. And all this brings me back to my first point; I suspect these restaurants are cooperating together to serve the same foods with the same quality standards, so that they don't actually need to compete on making the most delicious foods possible or providing the best experience possible, but can just get away with doing the minimum. That is, at least, the feeling that remained when I left this place.

What an absolute waste of money on crappy food and slow service!!! I mean people ask for recommendations on where to go but my recommendation here will be on where not to put an effin foot. First you walk up to find a sign that asks you to wait until you’re seated; that would only happen until eventually someone comes from the back after you’ve been waiting there standing acting weird because nobody shows up for a long time. Second you order things from a menu with pictures just to get a dish that doesn’t even remotely look like what you ordered… also you ordered spicy sauce that comes with your dish but it’s 2 extra euros but it’s never brought to you because once the waiter leaves your table you’re on your own. We only went there because we really wanted to try Slovakian food but the disappointment from the experience couldn’t be bigger. And lastly after all that bad experience once you also wait until someone is willing to bring you the bill the waiter tries to guilt you into tipping. Not only tipping is not part of the European dining experience but people here don’t work a tip based salary so don’t pretend that after you put the minimum effort into providing a service you need to be rewarded.

The sauce was quite nice, but everything else was far too salty for my liking. I tried other local cuisines, and it seems that this is the norm, so I won't bicker much about it. The local beer that was recommended was actually quite nice. However, what I found off-putting was the waiter's insistence that service was not included. I usually tip, but always on my own volition. It made me uncomfortable to be pestered about it, so I ended up paying in cash and left no change. As far as I know, tipping is not mandatory in the EU, unless something has changed. It's okay to hint once, or perhaps not at all, but focus more on the service you provide, and you'll find that many guests will be happy to tip without being pushed. Repeating that service is not included five times is a sure way to irritate some people and make them not want to tip you at all.

This place is a MUST VISIT for me. It is not that the food is exceptional and their prices are very good, you also get the whole historical experience and friendliness form the people that work there. We ate so much that at some point we couldn’t breathe. The food was handmade not prepared in advance and frozen like other restaurants in the area. I love a local place with honest hard working people. Each dish had a special meaning and our waiter Michael made sure we knew. This guy went above and beyond to make our experience amazing and for me this shows how much he values the people around him. Michael I said it before but I have to state it again, keep making people happy with your stories and your smile. You are a unique amazing human being.
