This restaurant has its own charm, (deco is simple but I like that way) & offering hearty and clean food, great service (not slow/ just enough to enjoy a meal). Portion & Price are genuine for me. Looks like many locals come simply for lunch deal.
We enjoyed two lunches in a row here, the daily lunch menu—featuring soup and a choice of two main dishes—is a delight to discover. On Monday, we had a potato crepe wrap with duck & cabbage and a meatball dish with mashed potatoes and cucumber pickles. Both were excellent, but we slightly preferred the meatballs—truly outstanding! On Tuesday, the chicken with rice was great, served with a light sauce.
"Garlic soup" Yummy 😇 hearty and well-balanced. I was already full after that, but curiousity led us to share a "Walnut Strudel"was excellent🤭. So glad I did!
I am still have curious & interested for other dishes^^
Finding this restaurant & also a bakery nearby was a highlight of my visit—otherwise, (my experience so far) the city felt like it was missing some energy...
Read moreIt is deceptively large on the inside and us decorated simply but well for the most part. Staff are fine, not overly friendly but very fast and well mannered.
I ordered a soup, salad and platter.
The soup was well cooked and seasoned, but I would say the rest of the food was average.
Cheese salad was too simple, but I do recognise the extra touch of honey and walnut which worked, but base ingredients were not varied enough.
The traditional food - average. It was lukewarm, the halusky sauce was cold and gluggy/separated. The cheese pieroggi were a bit tough but with sour cream fine...no real flavour of the lovely local cheese.
The potato dumplings with sauerkraut and bacon was dry...
Underseasoned overall, not a good mix of textures and while not bad, no not bad, it really didn't match the price tag or competition elsewhere deeper into Old Town.
My expectation was higher for better genuine, not-so-touristy home made food but....I am...
Read moreVery helpful and polite staff. Authentic place. Not many tourists know this place (yet). Plain and delicious local food. We had halushky.
“Despite the fact that this pub is right opposite to the more popular Slovak pub, we had never been here until one of our friends told us they have really good halusky there. So we went to try. And we were glad we did. Because their halusky were really tasty, from the texture of the dough through the cheese to bacon. We really like that they don’t mix the cheese with gnocchi so you can make your own ratio. And the overall experience was indeed pleasant. It’s not the same as if we made the dish at home (hence not 10 points) but let’s be realistic, it usually never is. So far the best halusky we have had in Bratislava.” ...
