If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be personally insulted by a plate of food, look no further than this charming little black hole of hospitality masquerading as a “traditional Slovak restaurant” in central Bratislava.
Let’s start with the food – or whatever that sad, overcooked tribute to national identity was supposed to be. I ordered halušky, expecting fluffy potato dumplings swimming in creamy bryndza and topped with crispy bacon. What I got looked like someone tried to reanimate a goat using expired sour cream and regret. I’ve seen five-year-olds make better-looking play-dough meals – and with more seasoning. Honestly, if this is what Slovak cuisine has to offer, I’m filing for culinary asylum.
But the food was only half the trauma. The service? Imagine the warmth and joy of a border control agent on their last shift before retirement. Our waitress greeted us with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for tax audits. She didn’t bother to mention that they don’t accept cards, which we only discovered after finishing the “meal” and being forced to raid our emergency cash like it was the Cold War. And no, a tiny note inside – when we were sitting outside – doesn’t count as “clear signage.” Maybe if they’d put it on a carrier pigeon and flown it over our heads, it might’ve been more effective.
As for the chef, I can only assume they graduated from the School of Cooking with Matches and Sadness, possibly after a single weekend course and a dare. The only thing traditional about this place is how traditionally bad it is. And the manager? Clearly someone who thinks EU currency is optional and Slovak law is just a rough suggestion.
The whole experience was like a tragic sitcom: overpriced food, underwhelming service, and an atmosphere so soul-crushing it made me nostalgic for airport terminals.
Would I return? Only if they demolish the place and build a library in its memory – to ensure future generations never repeat the...
Read moreTOURIST TRAP !! Told us the card machine « wasn’t working » but when a read the other reviews on here it doesn’t feel like an accident and they do it on purpose so you pay cash.
Prices were too high compared to other places.
She should’ve returned me 17.05€ and only gave back 17€ made us feel uncomfortable as we werent going to fight for 5 cent. Should’ve gave me the right amount when 7% tip is already forced on you.
Also if you want ketchup or lemon it’s gonna be an extra fee. So pricey
careful !! when they ask you if you want rice or fries it is NOT included you will pay extra. We thought it was included because the pictures shows them with the side dishes !!!🚨Look at the menu we expected it to be included but we were charged for the rice and fries . I mean if it’s on the picture of the dish it should be included in the price ???!?
Had to ask at least 5 times for a bottle of water until they FINALLY brought it. we were with kids and they were so thirsty waiting 15min for water !
when ordering the waitress kept leaving (without informing ) when i was litteraly talking to her and telling her my order and would come back with no apology when she just left in the middle of me talking and i would have to repeat myself. This happend to me and my family members a couple of times when ordering.
7% tip is enforced. tourist trap
do NOT recommend. Felt taken...
Read moreThe food is not that bad, we ordered 3 dishes and 2 out of the 3 were good (it's a gamble I guess). However, when you point to the photo of a dish that you can't pronounce the name and that it has a chaotic translation that you can't even figure out which language is which, you will be met with the surprise that the price of the dish is not the price that it really says!! It's ethically wrong, but legally right, because the potatoes and other parts of the dish are going to be charged afterwards, even though they appear on the photo. Also charged is a tip that you definitely won't want to give, because the service is bland and typical of someone that knows that the tourist won't come back, so why bother? So, surprise surprise, your bill will be much heavier than the one you signed up for, and there's no card payments, only a Revolut transfer to the personal account of the owner (good old tax evasion)! I would advise you to search for...
