Let me just sketch out the terrible experience we had in this great looking place. We arrived at 19h00 in the evening and ordered drinks right away. They told us it was busy and waiting times would get high but what we got was worse than expected. Just 45 minutes after ordering drinks we had to ask 3 times where the cocktails were. When asking the third time we got the answer that a machine necessary for the cocktails was broken and we needed to order other drinks and then they turned around and left without even taking new drinks. We gave up ordering cocktails because it took so long and ordered 3 cokes. One by one the cokes arrived when staff passed us with only one product at a time and never did they take initiative to clean up stuff on the table. We had to hand it to them. One person received his starter 1 hour before the others received theirs. They forgot 3 starters which we had to remind them multiple times. Some people received their main course before their starters and the staff was clearly unaware of what they were even serving. There was chaos! Lots of customers were grabbing staff by the sleeve to ask for help. The aperols tasted watery and above all that the music was so loud we had to shout to the staff and each other to understand anything they were saying! When asking the manager the second time they finally turned down the music a bit. After asking for a compensation when we were waiting for 2 hours we received some bread and the owner came to give us free bottles of wine after they just emptied the table of wine glasses. Afterwards they almost poor wine in glasses which still have other wine in them. This team clearly lacks good leadership and organisation/structure. They have enough staff they're just not well coached. The food was good though I had the house ceviche and the seafood linguine. I hope they just had a bad evening because this can happen to everyone but if not this beautiful place is doomed to fail because simply a great location is never what gets people...
Read moreI recently visited your restaurant with guests from the UK and wanted to provide some feedback on our experience. We were immediately impressed by the ambiance and aesthetic of the venue; however, unfortunately, our experience with the service fell below expectations.
To start, my cocktail was served in what seemed like a half-filled glass. Throughout our meal, no one checked if we would like additional drinks, which felt unusual. When it came to the food, one of my guests ordered sushi and another ordered sashimi. These dishes were brought out while we were still having our starters, which disrupted the flow of the meal. Partway through her sushi, my guest was informed by the waiter that a mistake had been made in combining the sushi and sashimi on a single plate. Since it was already half-eaten by this point, this left us uncertain as to how to proceed. We asked if this could be corrected, and additional sushi was later brought out.
When we received the bill, we were given an extensive explanation about how the waiter would personally have to cover the cost of the error. This felt unprofessional and, rather than resolving the situation, left us feeling uncomfortable and somewhat responsible for the restaurant’s mistake.
After dining at several establishments over the past few weeks, our experience at your restaurant was unfortunately marked by subpar service and average food quality. I wanted to share this feedback in the hope that it may help in refining the dining experience for future guests.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our...
Read moreHarry’s Beach Restaurant has just opened in Camps Bay, and while they’re still fine-tuning some service elements, it’s clear this place has great potential. The stylish décor and breathtaking sea views create an inviting atmosphere, making it a fantastic choice for a special occasion by the ocean.
The drinks were a bit of a hit and miss: the Negronis were spot-on, but the spicy margaritas could use some consistency. We ordered the same round twice, and there was a noticeable difference between them. Hopefully, with time, these inconsistencies will be smoothed out.
Our waiter was lovely and attentive, though it was clear he was still getting comfortable with the flow of things. Service was a bit slow, and there were some minor mix-ups, but these are natural adjustments for a new restaurant.
The bathrooms, however, could use more attention. When we visited, there were used hand towels lying on the floor and counters, which detracted from the overall experience. We hope the staff can monitor this area more closely to maintain the high standard set by the rest of the venue.
The food, on the other hand, was outstanding! The mussels and gnocchi were the stars of the menu, and we couldn’t find a fault with anything we tried. Although it’s on the pricier side, the quality made it well worth the splurge. We’re looking forward to seeing Harry’s Beach Restaurant refine its service – it has all the makings of a Camps...
