We were really looking forward to our dinner tonight at this well known restaurant. It is a popular place and difficult to get a booking. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. On arrival the waitress was half friendly and seated us. We ordered some starters- chicken livers, bread and a Portuguese salad. It was all very average. For mains we ordered the baby chicken and a pichana espetada medium rare. They brought food and two small side plates. The espetada was cooked well done. The chicken did not taste good at all. It tasted completely different to the last time I had it. Eventually when the waiter came round I showed them the Espetada and they took it back and made another one. Second to e round it was more rare than medium rare. The meat was not good it was tough and was also cold. I could not even eat it. They still did not bring plates. The owner Manny we only saw when we got there but he seemed to disappear. I asked the waiter to call him but he did not come. I would not mind paying the high prices if the food was good and service was good but we had neither. Never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my life.

We were invited by friends to this restaurant and it was an amazing experience. Portuguese cuisine, portuguese flavors and scents... I went for the traditional "Caldeirada de Peixe" (Fish Stew), It was delicious... and my friend managed to ask for an extra: 3 prawns on it... my wife, my sister in law and my friend's wife they went for the Prawn Curry, it looked very good. My brother in law had the classic "Bife à Portuguesa" (Steak a la Portuguese). All dishes were prepared while we waited. The service is very good, very good personell, very professional and friendly. One of them actually, from Mozambique, approached the table to say Hi in Portuguese. The Menu is vast and hard to choose... all dishes are desirable... without forgetting the deserts... I had "Arrôs Dôce" (Rice Pudding) a portuguese delicacy. Good portuguese wines, vast choice between prices and quality... The restaurant was crowded/full. I suggest a reservation before you try it. If you like Portuguese food, here you will be home. We loved it, we will go back... Well done.

The food was overall very good. Perhaps heavy in some areas like the prawns. But flavours really tasty. Though not spicy at all, if you are someone who eats spicy food. Pleasant surprise on the mussels and bacalhau fish cakes! Desserts somewhat simple, but maybe preferred for some. The service left a lot to be desired! Practically non-existent from the waitrons and this was for the first seating of the day. From not clearing / cleaning the table, to disappearing for extended periods of time. Definitely did not match the complimentary food. The owner appeared to try and attend to each table, but our waitress was quite the contrary. The restaurant is not that big, so the inattentive service was not expected. There are also some unsightly boxes near the bathrooms which should most probably be removed. Give it a try, hopefully service is better. Bookings are definitely recommended, as it fills up quickly.

It all started as my girlfriend and I sat down and our friendly waiter Melusi brought us the complimentary snacking bread, accompanied by some of the inhouse peri-peri sauce. Hungry as we were, we spread some on the fresh bread with butter and immediately loved the unique taste. Just the right amount of bite, with a rich and zesty flavour to boot.

But this was only the beginning, and we had no idea that we were about to have what we both deem to be the best meal we've ever had. This is no idle praise, as I love food of all kinds, and my girlfriend is admittedly fussy about restaurant food.

For starters, she opted for the prawn pastries (risolles) and I chose the traditional chouriço. We decided to each have a taste of each other's orders. The risolles were mouthwatering, and replete with flavour and texture. And the chouriço was brought to the table still flaming with ignited brandy. Needless to say, it was delicious too. Simple, but full of flavour.

For our main courses, I decided to go with a tried and test favourite of mine, Chicken Trinchado. And my girlfriend wanted to try something new, so she chose one of the house specialties: Porco Com Ameijoa, a traditional dish comprising potatoes, pork and clams in a garlic and wine sauce.

These main courses were hands down the most hearty, rich and delicious dishes we've ever had. My girlfriend does not usually eat pork, but even she loved the balance of flavours in her dish. The meat was tender and perfectly cook in both mains. And the Trinchado sauce was mind blowing.

Throughout the meal, we savoured each bite, and admired the warm and cozy decor of the quaint venue, noting that the colours and ambience felt hearty and welcoming, with the dishes matching that atmosphere and elevating it to altogether new levels.

After the meal, we waited a bit, still awestruck by the food we had, and how it made for such an amazing date night. Then, we capped our evening with dessert. She chose one of her favourites, chocolate mousse, and I decided to go for the almond tart. The desserts were delicious too, and along with a little caffeine on the side, a perfect end to a lovely evening.

We left the restaurant happy and extremely impressed. And we definitely plan on going...
