Incredible. The food is so fresh, and so full of flavour, great portions to have a starter and a main. Their Home Brew Rice beer is deliciously, and uniquely, tasty. There is so much attention to detail to the decor, from the stunning wall paintings, to the china-plate lightcovers and ceiling wallpaper. They really created an authenticly unique environment. Downside though, the service was a bit slow. We had to wait quite a bit for cutlery for our main course and our 2nd round of drinks were warmer than ideal by the time they got to our table, having been ready at the counter several minutes before being collected. They appear to be a bit understaffed. The music was too loud. It took away from the experience. The place is small and crowded already, the very loud music makes it nearly impossible to have a conversation without shouting and missing a couple of words with one's fellow diners. The music choice itself, although not in line with the restaurant theme, was still pleasant enough. Our table was in the first isle, close to the windows, and wafts of unpleasant smoke, not just regular, but what smelt alot like weed-smoke, would come in every so often. This is a very difficult thing for a restaurant to deal with, and they can't really be blamed for this, as the massive windows really help prevent that the small space gets too stuffy, one can only do so much when it comes to expecting and asking for considerate smoking etiquette from smokers.
By far though, the food and beer really made the visit worthwhile and worth the recommendation. Would like to try the Fourways branch next and see how...
Read moreToday is our anniversary and we wanted to try a new asian restaurant. We ordered the R360 sticky asain ribs and asked if it's sizable for two people to share and worth the price. The waiter assured us that they were on a board and enough for 2 people to share. When they arrived, there were only 10 pieces of ribs (some small).
My husband ate 1 full piece when he noticed it had on off taste or as if they had sat outside the fridge or were expiring. He took a bite out of a second one just to be sure and made me taste it, too. I then took 1 piece and ate it, but parts of it were cold. We spoke to the manager about this and they returned them to the kitchen and she said they were cooking them longer on a wok. However, when they brought them back, they were a bit burnt, no longer sticky, and still had the same smell and taste.
We brought it up to the manager's attention again, and we told her that they still smelled off and we were not comfortable eating them further. She then proceeded to explain how they're made but we told her that the issue wasn't the cooking method or the flavour (since we are familiar with asian ribs) but the state of the ribs themselves.
She said we would work it out but still had to pay for it since we already ate a portion of it but we pointed out that we only had 4 pieces had been touched in total and didn't even finish. She ended up subtracting R200 from the R360 because we ate the chips (not sure chips are worth R160), but we just wanted to leave by that point, so we paid the bill.

Read moreHad the pleasure of dining at Saigon Suzy recently, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the ambiance. The restaurant’s decor is a perfect blend of modern and traditional Vietnamese elements—bright, vibrant colors with a touch of elegant charm. I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures because everything from the lighting to the art on the walls was Instagram-worthy! It's one of those places where the aesthetics alone make you want to linger longer.
Now, onto the service, which was truly exceptional. Our waitress, Silindo, was a total gem. She greeted us with a warm smile and immediately made us feel at home. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she took the time to explain the menu in a way that made us excited to try everything. I appreciated how attentive and patient she was, especially when we asked for some tweaks to our orders. Her friendly yet professional demeanor really elevated the whole dining experience.
As for the food, it was a flavor explosion. We tried a variety of dishes, from the fresh spring rolls to their pho, and each one had just the right balance of herbs and spices. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The portions were generous, too, so we didn’t leave hungry!
All in all, Saigon Suzy offers an unforgettable experience, not only because of its stunning interior and incredible food but also thanks to the amazing service from people like Silindo. She truly made our visit memorable. Can't...
