My wife and I visited this venue for the first time on a hot Thursday evening, and enjoyed being seated upstairs with a bit of airflow. The vibe was laid-back and trendy with an eclectic mix of patrons enjoying drinks and snacks to a very groovy music backbeat. We were transported back to our party days in old Melville and Yeoville a long time ago.
Our waitress was engaging, helpful and totally on the ball, even though she was managing a large section of the deck all by herself. The tapas menu was quite extensive and offered far more exciting options than we could possibly manage in one setting, so clearly we will have to come back…
We shared 6 different tapas and they were all of a very high standard, delicious and quite edgy. The Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean theme worked extremely well and was executed to perfection. We were particularly impressed with the artichoke bar snack and the Iraqi Chicken. In fact, that Iraqi Chicken was so memorable that we would come back just for that.

The name is derived from the Tennessee Williams classic and the theme trickles down into the bar as a whole - from pink flamingos as part of the decor to creatively named cocktails.
Speaking of which, the cocktails are incredible!! Arguably the stand-out treat amongst the plethora of delights that Streetbar offers. Each cocktail is original - unique in design, name and presentation and magnificent in taste.
At Streetbar, "The Kindness of Strangers" is not just a cocktail or a quote, it is the very manner in which the staff conducts themselves. Going there for the first time you will feel like family within a few minutes. Not only are the staff friendly and knowledgeable, they are also efficient and the service in blindingly quick!
The food is divine. A healthy yet satisfying tapas menu that will keep the grumbles at bay whilst you party away.
The view from the deck makes you think that you're in San Francisco whilst the seating area inside is as homey as they come.

The ground level is rich in shades of emerald green and retro inspired furniture pieces. Best place to have an intimate dinner or enjoy conversations by the bar. The upstairs deck is more lively with views overlooking the Bolton Road & Jan Smuts Avenue intersection and Goodman gallery.
The service was exceptional and we happened to be here on a busy night. The barmen and waiters are friendly, know the menu and can recommend what your tastebuds might be craving. It's offers meat, seafood and vegeterian tapas which are filling and worth the buck. It was a relief cause most tapas restaurants would leave you feeling like you just ate air but not here! Must recommend is the harissa marinated sirloin with preserved lemon chimichurri most succculent piece of meat, the Za'atar fried chicken with a green tahini sauce which was a really good guilty pleasure and the lovely flavours of the butternut dish that can't rember but...
