I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting Motherland Coffee in the Rosebank branch, and I must say it was quite disappointing. As a local coffee shop, one would expect a certain level of quality, both in product and in value, but unfortunately, Motherland falls short on both fronts. First and foremost, let's talk about the pricing. The prices here are truly exorbitant. For instance, they sell Woolworths croissants at nearly double the price you’d pay elsewhere. It’s difficult to understand why anyone would choose to pay such outrageous fees for items that can be found at a fraction of the cost in a grocery store. It feels like a shameless attempt to cash in on unsuspecting customers who are expecting a nice, local experience. Furthermore, I was surprised to find that the jam and butter served with toast/plain croissant are not included in the price. It is standard practice in most establishments to provide these basic accompaniments without an additional charge, but not here. This lack of consideration for customers is a glaring example of how Motherland Coffee prioritises profit over customer satisfaction. In a market flooded with better options, it’s no wonder that many people lean towards foreign chains like Krispy Kreme and Starbucks. These well-known brands might be corporate, but they at least offer transparency in pricing and include standard accompaniments with their items. Motherland Coffee has a lot to learn if they wish to compete with these establishments. In conclusion, I cannot recommend the Rosebank branch of Motherland Coffee. With their inflated prices for basic items and lack of standard service offerings, it’s hard to justify a visit. Instead, I would encourage customers to explore other local options that respect their patrons and offer fair pricing. It’s a shame because there is so much potential for local spots, but Motherland Coffee has missed the mark...

I visited the Motherland often in early day at The Zone. They opened early and no Seattle. The coffee was great in the early day, but it changed. They now serve a bitter espresso. Nice and strong, but the worst tasting espresso around and served lukewarm. It is consistent though-so I you like that burnt bitter taste, you will get it everytime. I went to the one in Sturdee road in old Sasol Building in Rosebank. Great interior, great place to sit for meetings etc. Baristas are generally as unfriendly as always. Spoke to owners long ago about problems, yet they just ignore the situation. So lovely place to visit interior wise. Unfriendly service. Bad coffee. I have you enough chances. They have a good...
