Serious Disappointment with Dining Experience at Mugg & Bean

I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the recent dining experience my partner and I had at your establishment. We ordered the braai platter, hoping for a satisfying meal, but unfortunately, the value for money was extremely disappointing.

The sosaties we received were shockingly small and dry, with each weighing a mere 40g. To add to the frustration, the loin chop we specifically requested to be well done was served rare, and was not a loin but a rib, clearly indicating a lack of attention to customer preferences. The situation was exacerbated when we attempted to address these concerns with the manageress, who initially had no interest engaging with us.

When we finally managed to speak with the manageress, her explanation for the subpar experience was disheartening. She claimed that the portions were dictated by head office, leaving us questioning the commitment to quality and customer satisfaction at Mugg & Bean. This response struck us as feeble, and it is deeply concerning to witness such a decline in the quality of food over the years.

I implore you to take immediate action to rectify these issues. If your establishment invests time in creating an enticing menu, it is only fair that the food served aligns with the depicted standards. False advertising not only tarnishes the reputation of your restaurant but also leaves customers with a bitter taste of disappointment.

Regrettably, based on this experience, my partner and I have decided that we will never return to Mugg & Bean. I sincerely hope that you address these concerns seriously and consider the impact they may have on...

Great. I must commend M&G in the relaxing Jazz and chilled music that played. I'm soooo tired of so many restaurants that plays crazy loud upbeat music, when you want to come sit down and relax, AWAY from the busy shops. Well done M&B

From a friendly welcome, to the waiters on the floor and service staff, I definately rate M&G service 4/5 stars.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be a winner here, due to its location and centrality.

Their location is great, central and nearby other shops as well.

Great service, atmosphere and food! M&B is a trendy and comfortable coffee shop / restaurant. A beautiful venue with professional service. You will not be sorry for trying M&B for a casual coffee, a proper breakfast / lunch or a quick snack. Their Mocca Java coffee is great, and so is their Hot chocolate. I love their chicken livers dish!

There are many options for seating, but I would ask to be seated away from the waiters station, since it can get very noisy.

My wife and I have been to M&G a few times, and it is always friendly and full of character – not just a generic coffee shop, but a reliable and predictable good experience.

We love the interior decor, the look and feel.

They have a great menu with many options to choose from. Their food is always tastefully prepared, very well portioned and presented well. Our kids (11 & 14) also enjoy M&G. This is why I would return, since I can expect a good experience, away from home.

I came here because the reviews looked pretty good. When I arrived, they were pretty slow. There was only a few people in the restaurant. I explained to the hostess that I am vegan and inquired about the falafel burger being vegan because the online menu was a little confusing. Upon checking, my waiter said the burger was dairy and egg free, so their menu can be misleading. That’s why I always ask. The burger came with fries aka chips in SA. The fries were soggy as hell. I tasted oil when I took a bite. I asked the server for a fresh order of fries and when she came back, the fries looked better, but after taking a bite I quickly noticed they were the same fries, just refried. I asked for a manager who came out to talk to me. For the second time, I asked for fresh fries. The fries were slightly fresher, but some were undercooked and still soggy. I am disappointed in the quality of food. Also, they were very slow so why couldn’t they provide what I was asking for. I also got the slush (ginger, hibiscus, strawberry).
