BGR is a contender. Don't get me wrong, it's not the kind of place you'd go for a photoshoot. It's plain, not much to look at, and you probably won't find it popping up on your Instagram feed anytime soon. But, if you're after a seriously good burger, then this joint has got you covered. They've narrowed their focus down to basically just burgers - and that's their strength. They do burgers, and they do them really well. It's like they've taken all the frills and fluff you'd find at fancier spots like Big Mouth, Salvation Caffe, or Pablo House, stripped it all away and put everything into making a top-notch burger. But the best part? Your wallet's going to love this place. Prices at BGR are a lot easier on the pocket than those other places, but the quality? Still up there with the best. So if you're after a great burger without all the bells and whistles, BGR is worth a visit. It might not be the prettiest, but it sure does deliver when it comes to taste.

First time visiting and such a Great experience. It was not busy, there was enough space to sit but such friendly service .

After wandering in to a fairly industrial looking space with cold lighting and concrete floors, the friendly staff make it feel warm. This is by no means fast food, but if you have a little while to wait, do. The burger was a little oily, but incredibly tasty - the fries were fairly standard fare. Chocolate milkshake is fantastic and the inclusion of home-made lemonade and iced tea, and a craft beer on tap was very welcome. The menu structure is simple and easy: R65 for a cheese burger, R85 for a double (I think without cheese it was R5 cheaper) - burger price remains fixed whether you have all the toppings or none at all - with the exception of bacon, which is R25 extra. In summary, strange space with great staff, slow but wonderful and simple food and drink. I’ll definitely be back.

This might take a while: Been there before. Was a 8/10 burger that time. So we order (Single cheese/works, double cheese lettuce/pickles, fries and two chocolate shakes), and waited for about 25 minutes till we asked them what was happening. They said their screen was not working, asked to see our slip, and told us they would find out. Waiter took the slip with him.

Waited 10 minutes or so, then they brought us an order. Two single cheese burgers, with tomato on both, one choc milkshake and one vanilla. Burgers were cold. Sent that back. Waited another 10 minutes. Another order arrives but one is a single burger with no cheese. So then we double check the slip the waiter had taken from us and the original order was put through wrong. Which is highly confusing, because the first cold order they gave us wasn't what the slip had said anyway. So they just gave us random burgers that were lying there until cold. Milkshakes had also been sitting a while before we got them.

So then, the waiter trying to help us gives us "free single cheese burger" cards. But they had random dates written on them, from May. Mine was the 27th May, my friends the 17th May. They would expire within a month. Waiter offered to rewrite the date only then. We declined his offer. He was trying to help us, but everything was just going wrong.

So we just said fine give us those burgers from the incorrect slip. The burgers weren't worth the price paid for in taste. I just ate the one they gave me, a single no cheese. Was not what I wanted, but after 50 minutes in that place, we just wanted to leave.

Sorry guys, you need to have a serious look at how your business...

Burger was fine. Except we order 3 burgers no garnish - it came with garnish The works + jalapeƱo- it came with no jalapeƱo The works + bacon- it came with jalapeƱo and bacon

Then we ordered 2 x coke floats and a sparkling water. We got 1 sparkling water and 2 x cokes… waited 15 minutes and still no coke float (we had to go to the counter to ask for our coke float)

The gentleman taking our order couldn’t be bothered, in fact I think we were bothering him. Every part of our ordered he struggled to hear, until we suggested putting the music lower. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

BGR is like many small independent restaurants in the time of Covid. Balancing number of staff VS number of orders and sit down customers VS Uber eat orders (I heard the Uber chime off the hook) I can only say, it’s Thursday night before a long weekend and they got it dismally wrong! Either pause Uber and focus on your sit down customers or close your doors to sit down customers. Never ever ever compromise on quality, that will ensure burger lovers like us will go back to supporting the big competition Rocomamas

On a positive the lovely female waitress (only 1 waitress for the whole store) did everything in her power to fix what the kitchen and the order taker got so...

This place is worth your time.

BGR is known for its amazing burgers & they certainly live up to that reputation. Their meat is fresh & it just takes really good. Nevermind the fact that I shouldn't even be eating burgers cause I am wheat intolerant! šŸ™ƒ Anyway!

Their service is incredibly loving & welcoming. The guys at the shop were kind, patient, and very friendly to my girls & I. Even though we sat there till they were about to close (we didn't see the time), they were understanding & didn't chase us out you know?

Coming to the food, it's simply delectable. A very simple menu where you can build your own burger from at little as R75. You then choose what stuff you want inside your burger (onions, mushrooms etc). The fries are so fresh & just yumm-yumm, they'll go for an extra R35 & their LEMONADE is to die for btw! We tried the half-ice-tea & lemonade combo this time around & it was good but not as awesome as their plain lemonade. Try that when you go again. All in all, a 9/10 experience & the missing one is cause I can never fully give 100% for anything -...
