So it pains me to rate this so low as I’ve been coming to this restaurant for the past 4 years as it’s just around the corner from my estate. And in those 4 yeas the quality of service has just downgraded so much: the turn over of staff is something else as well, but I won’t even get into that.
So I went through on Sunday with an extremely ravenous appetite, and took pooch with as they are pet friendly. I seated myself as there was no one at the entrance of the restaurant, the restaurant was surprisingly very quiet which I was more than pleased with, so immediately assumed service would be fast, and boy was I mistaken. Actually mistaken is definitely the wrong word. Annoyed more like it.
They offer on a daily basis from 3pm-7pm a cocktail special which includes 2 cocktails for an easy 70 “bux” (alluring rite). So I ordered a pina colada and a glass of water As well as a doggie bowl of water for pooch. Now I’m fully aware of the time it takes to make and prepare a cocktail which was why I specified to the waiter I’d like my dogs water bowl and my water as soon as possible, (with a dash of speed) and well let’s say that my waiter disregarded my request completely. He didn’t even bring me a menu!
I WAITED OVER 15 MINUTES with no water, no dogs bowl of water and not even a menu. I then requested the same thing from another waiter that basically just ignored me. My waiter didn’t even introduce himself and had no name badge.
Eventually he strolls by with my pina collda which was nothing to write home about, I only had a few sips of it and left the remainder. When he brought the cocktail I expressed to him how irritated I was with this disgusting lack of care in customer service, and asked for the bill, which I waited another 10 minutes for. By this point I was starving and just wanted to get out of there. Still never received my glass of water. I had to ask him then again for a second time to please bring my dogs water which he did with my change from the bill.
Walking out I passed the manger and let him know how unimpressed I was with the service and I told him I would not be coming back again. All I got was a sorry....
I have been a regular customer at this branch and that’s the compensation that I get, not that I was looking for anything, I don’t complain unnecessarily.
I’m very sad to say but I won’t go back there again! Or at least till they up there game with...
Read moreI recently dined at Doppio Zero in Pineslopes on a Friday night with my family. I should note that I approached dining here with some caution, as I had seen a significant number of negative reviews before deciding to visit. Alas, I did not pick the location so I was obliged to come.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including the original burger, chicken livers and fries, chicken wings tapas, and drinks such as Appletiser, beer, and cognac.
The food arrived in about 25 minutes and overall tasted good. I must give a special recommendation to the hand-cut fries, which were truly delicious. However, I found the chicken livers sauce to be excessively spicy, so it's best suited for chili lovers.
The burger, while tasty, had meat that was somewhat undercooked. I didn't mind this as it suits my preference, but since I didn't specifically request it, I believe it would be better if they cooked it properly unless asked otherwise as not everyone enjoys medium rare food.
The restaurant had a nice decor, but the seating options were not to my liking. The benches appeared stained, and the distance between them and the tables was awkward, making it difficult to sit comfortably in the booth.
On the positive side, the lighting was perfect- not too bright, not too dim, and despite it being a Friday night, it wasn't overly crowded. It seemed to cater to an older crowd, primarily aged 40 and above, based on the patrons I observed.
The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit, which was a plus.
In conclusion, if you're solely looking for a good meal, Doppio Zero in Pineslopes is a decent option.
However, I've visited better branches of Doppio Zero, and the overall vibe at this location left something to be desired. I found it lacking in energy and ambiance, so I won't...
Read moreThe food was terrible, I had the buttermilk chicken taco, the chicken had no flavour at all, even the batter had no seasoning, like they expect the sauce to give it all the flavour it needs, the entire soft shell taco was soggy, also the short rib pizza barely had any any short rib or cheese on it, could get better pizza from a checkers... Asked for a glass of water and after 10 minutes i eventually went to fetch it myself... My mother In law ordered a crumbed chicken breast and got a normal chicken breast, the waiter tried to spin some story about it being lightly crumbed and when asked if it could be done properly he said the fryer is broken instead of just telling us in the begining and saving us from ordering it in the first place, the lights above us at the table we sat at were off, we asked it to be turned on, the waiter said he was going to do it, he came back with our drinks and we asked again and he said he will speak to the manager, he came back with our food, we had to ask him yet again and he said it keeps tripping so it doesn't work🤦🏽♂️I had to keep myself from losing my cool a few times during this visit... oh and don't go here during loadshedding, no genorator as we found out half way through the meal... in fact don't go here at all... if you like doppio zero go to the one in Hobart shopping center, Bryanston, it is far better and the food...
