We booked a table at Hussars Grill Monte Casino for 8 people for 2nd July at 3pm, the booking was made online, and we mentioned that it was for a birthday. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we arrived, we were seated on the veranda and the first thing we noticed was how dirty the tablecloth was, I requested that the waiter wipe it down.
We waiting close on 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. We then proceeded to place our food order, which consisted mainly of medium-to-medium rare steaks, the food arrived 45 minutes after the order was placed. When the meals arrived, 5 out of the 8 meals where ice cold including the plate they were served on. We tried to look for our waiter to address this, but we couldn’t find him. My husband then went to the front desk to ask for the manager, the waiter that assisted him ran into the kitchen and was never seen again, my husband returned to the table, and we waited for the manager, but no one arrived. I then got up and went to the front desk and requested to speak to a manager again. The 2 waitresses at the front desk where reluctant to call the manager and looked unsure of how to address my request. I was then approached by Josh, who mentioned that he was the manager and I explained that 5 out of 8 meals were ice cold and we couldn’t find our waiter. He then proceeded to the table and took the 5 meals back to the kitchen. About 5 minutes later the 5 meals were returned to us, we noticed that the plates appeared to have the exact same vegetables or sauces that were originally on the plates. Honestly it appeared that the plates had just been put under the pass to heat up! My 200g fillet was blackened and burned on the outside, to the extent that it was tough to chew. The other guests at the table also had various issues with their reheated meals but since it proved so difficult to get our meals, we chose not to raise any additional problems with our meals. Upon receiving our reheated meals, neither the manager nor the waiter checked on us again. We ordered a few Dom Pedro’s and an Irish coffee after the meal. The Irish coffee arrived, and we had to double check with the waiter that it was in fact an Irish coffee because it looked like more like a café latte than an Irish coffee. Unfortunately having all these issues really distracted from the birthday celebration. The waiter took our order and the starters arrived within a reasonable time, the starters themselves were really good. For the main, from the time of order to the time it arrived was almost about 2 hours, I'd say about an hour and a half to 2 hours. When the food came the steak was not how I'd asked for it to be done, medium rare... the steak was unevenly cooked with one side being more medium to well done and the other side being a bit more medium, which wasn't the best texture but I didn't feel like sending it back and possibly wasting another half an hour to an hour waiting for it. At the start of ordering, when we'd just sat down, we had asked the waiter for glasses of water, we had then asked him abt 4 times before he actually remembered to bring it and by that time we had almost finished our meal, he did however put our other drinks orders in which did arrive before the meal, but the water... having to ask 4 times for a glass of water doesn't really look good in our books... and each time we asked he seemed to have completey forgotten, asking if we wanted still or sparkling and if we wanted Lemon and ice, each time... The, what I presume manager did come over and apologized for the delays, which we do appreciate and even compensated our deserts and our drinks, which is the reason I bumped up the rating on this post, he seemed to be a really nice guy and we do appreciate it quite a bit. Read moreWe returned after a splendid evening we had the previous time. We are shocked that we returned to a different restaurant.
We made a reservation and confirmed the reservation telephonically, but when we arrived, non one knew about our reservation and it was also jot written down in their reception book. We were taken to a table which was used to keep empty glasses and cutlery which we had to clear ourselves. The heater was also placed by the chairs, which we had to move out of the way. We noticed our reservation was on the table as a reserved sign was placed on the table, yet they still used our reserved table as a storage for other tables extra glasses and cutlery.
The food was not cooked according to the instructions (a medium rare steak was served so rare that it was still cold inside) and we were also served with sides which the waiter decided on even after the menu clearly indicated the side which the meal was served with. We had to have chips as a side dish with oxtail. We continuously had to be ask for water which the waiter kept on forgetting.
At the end of the evening, the waiter asked whether everything was in order and I replied stating that I am not pleased with the service I have received with my guests to which the waiter responded that he had a larger table to attend to which was clearly more important ti him than our table of three.
I will not recommend this restaurant to my family and friends as it seems as though they are more focused on serving larger tables than to cater for all customers equally.
What a shame! It is sad that regulars are no longer a priority unless you bring a bunch of guests along!
I would rather take my money to a fast food chain next time than to endure this horrendous...
