In response to Marina: I believe your response speaks for itself. When you read a review about your establishment and the only reaction from you, as the owner, is to question whether we expressed our disappointment—along with an undertone of annoyance—it becomes clear to me what the root of the problem is. I will not entertain your request. We frequent the NIKOS branch at Sandton but recently visited the Pineslopes branch for a family dinner. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. The lamb chops were tough and the portion size was small. The grilled hake was excessively oily, the spaghetti with a 'dash' of Napoletana sauce lacked flavour apart from the tomato, and the chocolate milkshake was extremely disappointing, with no discernible chocolate flavour. The duck, which we obtained from the restaurant next door as part of their shared-menu policy, was dry and tasteless. These are just a few examples, as we were a table of ten.
However, I must commend Morris for his impeccable service. He worked incredibly hard that night, attending to our table and many others with courtesy and efficiency. The restaurant’s setup is pleasant and the bathrooms are clean, so there is nothing wrong with the restaurant itself. Sadly, the food was a total letdown, especially when compared to the branch we are accustomed to. Oh, and the car guards are very overpowering and intimidating, which does not help with the overall experience upon arrival...
Read moreAs regulars , we walked in, a waiter showed us to our table and that was the only service we received ! So with so many options around we got up and left - if you want good service there are other great Greek food options around - also mentioned this to the young manager on duty and he was bewildered. Not sure what’s going on . Response to your defensive posture :
Thanks Marina,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the effort to review the CCTV footage, and I understand it may show we were there for just over 4 minutes. However, I want to clarify that our disappointment wasn’t about the exact time — it was about the lack of acknowledgment or welcome during those minutes. As regulars, we felt completely overlooked, and that’s what prompted us to leave.
The absence of any meaningful engagement — even a simple “we’ll be with you shortly” or good afternoon how can we help— left us feeling like we didn’t matter. That’s the real issue.
I’m not looking to make a big deal of it, and I wish your team well. But in a competitive restaurant space where service makes all the difference, moments like these can determine whether loyal patrons return or not.

Nikos is truly a delightful dining experience. The young and diverse wait staff are genuinely engaging and friendly, providing excellent service that feels warm and welcoming. They seem to be at ease, I love to see it.
Moving on to the food, the lamb chops were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, they were some of the best I've had. The fillet medallions were new on the menu, tender (I can imagine the taste might not be for everyone, they are tossed in butter and flour) but I really enjoyed it.
But what truly impressed me was a heartwarming gesture I witnessed. At the entrance, I noticed a large container filled with sandwiches. Upon inquiring, the manager explained that they prepare and distribute lunch sandwiches to Uber Eats delivery drivers every day. This small act of kindness speaks volumes about the heart and values of this restaurant.
