Went out with some friends for my farewell. We walked into moonshine just to check the menu. We asked one of the waiters what cuisine the restaurant offered and she said American. That was already a turn off for me. However the menu had many options.
The place is very beautiful and well decorated. They have various seating options. The music was good. The service was alright.
I saw nachos on the menu and thought that it would be a good option only to be told that they didn't have nachos that evening. My friend decided that we should give it a try. So we sat down and looked through the menu. After much searching and consideration we finally ordered.
I ordered Texan Style beef ribs with dirty rice. My one friend ordered mini spinach and feta calzones and loaded fries. My other friend ordered baked marinara meatballs and Mac and cheese. When our food arrived we were shocked with the portions. The portion is so small you'd think they are feeding children.
When my friend and I tasted the Mac n cheese it was so sour it tasted like the cheese was off. When we went it back the waiter said that they use three different types of cheese and that the sourness we were tasting was from the Parmesan cheese. I have tasted parmesan before and I know it is not sour. The meatballs were good but the tomato sauce was bitter my friend had to add sugar to it.
My rice needed a little bit more cooking and a lot more flavor. I had to add Tabasco sauce to the rice just so I could enjoy it a little. My ribs were so salty I could feel my blood pressure rising. The onion ring was so oily I could feel the oil run down my teeth when I took a bite. The loaded fries were okay but my friend couldn't finish it even though it was a small portion. The calzones were the best thing we ordered. They were good.
To drink my friend ordered a cappuccino which he was happy with. My other ordered a milkshake which she struggled to finish because it tasted like watered down chocolate shake. I wanted a strawberry daiquiri but they had run out of sugar syrup so I had to order a Mojito. They have two options either a blended Mojito or the normal Mojito. I went for a blended Mojito. It was good.
I am sure this is a great place to grab a drink with friends. But I would definitely not...
Read moreAbsolute worst experience of my entire life! We went to watch a show at Sunbet Arena and stopped at Moonshine for dinner beforehand. We arrived 2 hours before the show and then they informed us that there was something wrong with their kitchen and the could only serve pizza - we were perfectly happy with that and proceeded to order 1.5 hours before the show. Approximately 5 minutes after placing our order, the waiter came and let us know that they did not have brisket in stock and we needed to reorder three of our pizza’s. An hour after we ordered they let us know that our food would probably not be ready in time and they didn’t know what to do, the manager/ hostess then came by and re-enforced that the food would probably not be ready in time so we had the option to either cancel our pizza’s or take them in takeaway boxes but that she would go find out how long it would still take (mind you - none of us had eaten the entire day in anticipation of a nice dinner). She then proceeded to walk past us more than three times without acknowledging that we existed after which we called her and asked if she had feedback regarding our food yet - she mentioned that it would take at least another 40 minutes with the stinkiest attitude I have seen in my life! (At this point our show started in 30 minutes and we could not afford to wait another 40 for food) The hostess/manager was so rude to us (if it was me, I would have been rather apologetic in this situation) Just a couple of tips for the restaurant: You really should have let us know at the time of ordering that your kitchen did not have capacity and that we would have to wait more than 2 hours for our food - then we would have been able to choose a different restaurant and actually been able to enjoy a nice dinner prior to our show If you mess up this badly - keep the attitude to yourself - a good ol’ sorry goes a really long way and probably would have avoided this entire review If you know you can only serve pizza’s, please make sure that you actually have the beef for your only beef pizza
If you are considering visiting - save yourself the trouble and please don’t, you will regret it. Time Square has so many options that are so much greater with better food and...
Read moreWe visited for a quick bite before our concert at Sunbet arena. Moonshine is just outside the arena, so it's an obvious choice unless you settle for the regular franchise restaurants.
The restaurant has seating inside and outside for those perfect summer days. The decor and indoor seating are mixed with your normal tables and chairs, they have the high chairs and tables, and then there are cute round cubicles for a more intimate feel.
The menu is just okay. There's not a huge variety, but it's okay to fill that gap.
We ordered the NY pizza, basically pepperoni pizza... I didn't have a lot of expectations from the pizza (I mean, you can't go wrong with a pepperoni pizza). To my surprise, the pizza was delicious. Clay oven pizzas just taste so much better. They were not shy on the toppings either. The guys making the pizza are so happy it kinda explains why their pizzas taste so good.
They even have a dj area, I'm assuming it's...
