Normally I wouldn't write a review on a beloved South African branch, as I also love eating at Nandos. However, this past weekend my friend and I decided to eat at the Nandos at Mall of Africa and it was not up to standards. I will start straight away with saying that my chicken was NOT cooked properly, it was still pink and bleeding, which is disappointing since this has never happened in the past eating at any Nandos. My friend checked hers and also saw some pink (but wasn't bleeding) so just to be safe than sorry, we decided to send both our plates back (also with this bird flu going around, we didn't want to take a chance). The waiter took it back to the kitchen, and since its an open kitchen, we saw that the chefs where inspecting it. After watching them, the manager came to speak to us with a plate of chicken, but it was only my friends chicken (not mine, which was strange, since mine was more raw than hers). The manager spoke to us, explaining that they do not tolerate uncooked chicken, and apologised while showing us that "chicken legs can be pink but it is cooked to the bone", but I could not shake off the feeling that we were being "lectured" more than being spoken to with kindness (he had a very condescending tone). I was going to bring up the fact that he wasn't showing me my chicken however, I was hungry and just wanted my food. The manager did assure me that we will get a new chicken (both of us), and left. Upon receiving the new chicken, I checked, and my chicken was properly cooked, hardly any pink AND NO BLOOD. This assured me that I wasn't "imagining" that my chicken wasn't cooked, and the manager not showing my chicken while lecturing us also made it clearer that they wanted to make it seem like it was "all in our heads" that the chicken was undercooked.
The service is a 2 star, because despite the fact that we felt like we were spoken down to by the manager, the waiter we had was awesome, he was very friendly, and upbeat. He was attentive and made sure after the situation we were comfortable. The atmosphere here is awesome, one of the best decorated Nandos I have been to, beautiful art there and more spacious than other branches.
I did inform our waiter that he was amazing and none of what happened was his fault , but to just let the manager know that he should not speak down to customers like that in the future. I hope the manager knows that it's not an attack, but a precaution if customers send back undercooked chicken.
All in all, it's an overall 2 stars and not a 1 or zero stars, since I will take past experiences into account. I hope that this situation was a one time thing, and my friend and I was just...
Read moreMy wife and i visited the store on 26/07/2025. We placed our order at 21:35. by 22:00 we had not received our order and i went to query it and the employee looked at the slip and could not find the order on the system. It had been bumped off. I was told that i would get my order in 5 minutes. By 22:30 we had still not received the order and i requested to speak to the manger but I was not directed to the manager. We eventually received the order at 22:35 but the chips were COLD. We had already waited a full hour just to get a pita and burger and chips. I logged a complaint with Nandos head office on the 28/07 and they contacted the store but i received NO feedback. i contacted head office again on 31/07 and was told that the store manager tried to contact me but could not get through to me WHICH IS A LIE. Head office got the manager a Mr Spamandla on the line and he promised to look into the matter and get back to me the next day. He called me back saying that he was sorry and that i should come into the store and they would "do something". I live in Alberton which is a distance away from Mall of Africa and told him it was not possible for me to go into the store. He then told me that he doesnt have authority to do anything further and that he would get back to me. It is now 2 weeks later and still no feedback or response from Mr Spamandla or the store owner and not even from Nandos head office. PATHETIC SERVICE FROM THE STORE AND...
Read moreI am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the quality of the food I received during my recent visit to your Mall of Africa branch.
On the 23rd of January, I purchased a Sosati Flatbreadmeal and unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing. The chicken kebabs were extremely small, burnt, and dry, making them unappetizing and far below the quality I expect from Nando’s. Furthermore, the flatbread was overloaded with coleslaw, overshadowing the entire meal and leaving an unbalanced taste.
This is not the first time I have encountered such an issue at this branch, as a similar incident occurred previously. While I must commend the exceptional service from the counter staff, the quality of the food and overall dining experience has been consistently unsatisfactory.
As a loyal customer who has always enjoyed the Nando’s brand, I kindly request that this matter be addressed promptly. I trust that measures will be taken to improve food quality at this branch to ensure that other customers do not share the...
