Roman's Pizza Bank City JHB CBD — Restaurant in Gauteng

The 1 Star is for the lady at the till. This pizza place has always been my wife and son's favorite spot for their pizza dates. This is why, when we were previously served a burnt pizza, I chose not to complain or report it.

Today, we decided to return. I politely mentioned to the lady at the till that the last time we visited, we were given a burnt pizza and even showed her a photo as reference. She apologized and went to inform the kitchen staff. It was clear they did not take the feedback well.

Shortly after, a man whom I assume to be the supervisor. As no regular staff member would have the audacity to behave this way in front of management, began playing loud amapiano song, with lyrics mocking our complaint ("ungasimosheli umsebenzi wethu") and turned up the volume. When he saw that he was not getting our attention, he clapped loudly to draw our attention.

Mr. Supervisor, you now have my attention. Instead of acting professionally and handling feedback constructively, you chose to be petty. In the short time I spent in your store, I also observed the following hygiene violations:

You were dancing without wearing a beard net a basic hygiene requirement, especially when working with food.

One of your colleagues walked into the kitchen directly after smoking outside, while still wearing a hairnet posing a serious risk of Cross Contamination.

So firstly Romans was my go to work lunch.for 8 months I ate it literally everyday during the week. But one of the inevitabilities in life is the decline of that which we love. The service and quality of food has declined so radically that I will not be supporting this store further. On Wednesday I ordered a pizza pie and it was basically empty on the inside. They have great tasting pizza. Firstly. I commend the cashier who had shown me so much of attention to listening to what I had to say as a customer. She handled the situation well were only one of my orders were processed and they had forgotten the other. In the end.
