Went to have some Greek coffee recently and I must say that friendly and helpful service was lacking. Upon ordering the coffee we were given the option of 'sweet or metrio'. Not hearing the term 'metrio' before (excuse me for being a bumpkin), I asked for clarification and was told that if it's not sweet it's metrio - so we went for that option as my girlfriend is on the Banting diet. When we received our coffees it was in a most unfriendly manner as the waiter serving mine had no smile and ignored my greeting and thank you. Coupled to this that the coffee was then sweet, even though it was metrio, it all made for a disappointing experience for my first time to this Tashas branch. A Google search revealed that there are usually 3 options to Greek coffee: sweet, metrio, and plain; metrio meaning medium, so not unsweet at all like suggested but just less sweet. No plain option was offered. The waitress could certainly have been more clear about this had she been trained to, or perhaps she just wasn't in the mood to explain. Obviously not sure if they put sugar but I think this could have been a more serious issue for a customer with diabetes. I also understand that taste is relative but a better, friendlier explanation could have been given rather than brushing my inquiry off as if I was asking a stupid question. The coffee was good though and I can tell cuisine is well prepared but a good time is created by service and people, not just the product. All in all I was left with a sour taste in the mouth (pun intended) and would hope that service improves but I will not be keen to visit...
Read moreI was recommended to dine in Tashas Rosebank. I heard a lot of good things about it, particularly with high quality services. But very disappointing experience I had (or maybe just me had bad experience on the day?). I was welcomed nicely. I ordered the lamb ribs pack as main course but was told out of stock after getting the drink. I was suggested to change to lamb cutlets, which was fine. Then I was offered if I prefer mash potatoes or broccoli, and I chose broccoli. I thought this is because my main course / lamb ribs pack was unavailable, and this is complimentary. However, when I received the bill later on, the broccoli was charged. I also did not have fries with the meal. I asked why, I was told that it was because of power cuts, so fries can’t be provided. That is the reason I was offered either broccoli or mash potatoes. I did not understand if the fries can’t be provided and alternative was offered with extra charge, I did not want to argue with the staff, so I just paid. The bill was R406. I gave R500, and asked for change. The staff initially probably thought R500 is all for the bill, with the rest (R94) for his tips (why with such bad experience and I wanted to give R94 tips?). When I asked for the change back, the staff was not happy and kept asking me how much change should be brought back, which made it so unpleasant. I left R24 as tips (not much I know). I...
Read moreI absolutely love Tasha’s- so much so, that driving up from Bloem we ended up eating at both the Sandton city and Rosebank branches.
I have a few intolerances so opted for the “steel cut oats” breakfast. I can’t eat gluten or dairy and the waiter at Sandton altered the oats for quinoa. No fuss nothing! Awesome 10/10 for friendliness, efficiency and great tasting food.
One day later at Rosebank-I opted for exactly the same as not many changes need to be made except for changing the oats for quinoa. Firstly, they said it couldn’t be done. Then I spoke the manager and informed him that this was no issue at the other branch and for the simple fact that there are other items on the menu that have quinoa in them. The manager then came back with stories about portion sizes of the quinoa being 80g and then ended off with “i’ll See what I can do”. 35 minutes later our breakfast arrives, really yummy. Then the bill arrives being charged an extra R26 for quinoa even though I didn’t get the oats or the yogurt. 4/10.
Still love Tasha’s- but maybe you could look at consistency over all the branches? Just...
