RocoMamas Rosebank — Restaurant in Gauteng

I take no joy in writing a bad review, especially when I am grateful that this is the only non Halaal Rocomamas in the area and serves Real Bacon.

However my experience last night at this Rocomama's was not great.

First, we were told that the table we wanted to sit at was "reserved" despite no one ever sitting there in the near 2 hours we dined.

I saw the table we were led to still had a few stains and water marks, requested politely for it to be wiped, waited a while for this...

Noticed other tables which did not have patrons also had this issue despite having been cleared.

Then our server while friendly was way too busy attending his other tables to attend to our 2 person table & I could understand this if the entire establishment was full & all servers were busy, but this wasnt the case.

Nonetheless a two person table is not often profitable, but I did order ribs, wings, 2 kinds of chips, cheeze bombs and a limited edition burger. so it wasnt a huge order for a table of two but still.

The ribs came to the table ice cold, I politely returned them (Server was too busy to see to us, so I got up and another waitress assisted at the kitchen)

When they came back, internally they were still cold, I opted to take the cold rib home in the end & heat it on my grill.

None of the tables had serviettes so waited a while to get them, our table didnt have the Lovely Rocos Chilli sauce, when requested the server took it from clients behind us.

And no toilet paper in the ladies bathroom.

The Limited edition Grenade burger was actually slightly disappointing and was also cold in the middle, not sure why because it did come off the grill.

Overall I had been skeptical going there last night as I have always had a concern about this branch, particularly seating & service, but my Girlfriend whos birthday was the next day requested specifically Rocomamas.

I was obliged to give a tip because of the very friendly server who saw me requesting the bill, our original server was no where to be seen.

In the greater scheme of things, this is one of the few Non Halaal Rocomamas & I believe that should be celebrated, protected, preserved & maybe even placed above all other branches.

Customer service is horrible from the owner. The staff on the contrary is really lovely. But my experience by the owner at this branch was so horrible, it was the 1st and last time at this rocomamas. We waited for a table, luckily we got one in a few minutes (outside). The weather changed and the rain was pouring with cold wind. We asked for the 1st available table inside, from the owner, his response was “it’s full”. We said yes we see, but can we get the 1st available table. He said ok. There were 2 different customers who came came in after our request, and he directed them inside and decided to ignore our request. When I approached him he then told me that the reason for not giving us a table inside is because we’re done eating. I was shocked at that because if we were done why would we ask for a table inside? Mind you we had 4 small children with us in that weather, outside, and I couldn’t understand his reasoning. I told him we’re not done, we were about order but waited to get a table inside. Then he tells me that it’s not his fault that the weather changed. I was speaking to this man in a nice way and for him to be that cheecky to me, was beyond me. I previously asked him nicely though to put us in on the 1st available table inside, and he said he will, so what’s the problem? That’s only when he said he will let us in. But the drama, my experience was just ruined quite honestly. The back and forth was really unnecessary. It’s the last time I set foot at this rocomamas. It’s never the place, it’s always the management thereof. And this one, is the worst of them all. We don’t ask for favours, we pay money to sit down. Horrible, terrible experience it was for me and my family. Our money can’t be good enough when we start sitting down and when we want to order more our money is no longer good enough because you have new customers coming in??? Change your attitude!!!! You’re dealing with customers!!! Don’t deal with customers if you don’t understand customer service. You’re in the wrong...

If you want the Jozi vibe with “messy food” and a beer, then do not look further Rocco mama is the place to be.

It is not a lie that Rocco mama has the best taste in burgers, however When we got there it was packed so much that we did not get a table to sit inn and had to wait for others to finish before we get a table. So finally we sat down, the music of what I thought was rock music was loud and people were loud too, sitting in groups enjoying their meal and drinks. A lady with no name tag who turned out to be our waitress came to us and we were given 2 pieces of papers and a pen and I mean a very small piece of paper that turned out to be our Manu. I ordered old classic burger with one large chips to share and a bubble-gum milk shake, my boyfriend went for a cheese and bacon burger with Orio milkshake.. I would have thought that because the place does not seem to have order and there is lots of people the food will take a lot of time, instead the manager approached us to check if we made our order and in the next 20mins we were served.
